  • Replace laptop screen panel with one of a different brand.

Is it possible to replace a lenovo y520 FHD screen panel with one from a different manufacturer? It's starting to show "dull" colors. It's still very bright from all sides but from experience, this is a red alert as I've had issues in the last with LG screens where this led to dying panels.
Most people won't notice this but I have a keen eye for this kind of thing.
Have you looked on eBay? Cheap replacements are often titled "for leonovo ... (insert model)" which means they are not an original part but a different yet compatible part.

I've turned the brightness up to 90% to compensate. The colors used to be much better in the past.
