Recommendations for gaming Monitor & RAM Upgrade

Ok so this is gonna be a bit long. Hang tight.
Disclaimer: I'm fairly new to PC gaming so not sure how things work altogether.

First let's start with my PC specs: MSI Z270 m5 gaming, i7 7700 (non k), GTX 1080, 2x16gb DDR4 RAM 2133mhz, etc...

Second, now I'm currently gaming on my living room curved samsung 55" 4K/60hz TV; from around 105cm away. This gives me an approximate actual horizontal FOV of 66deg (since it's curved). And I quite enjoy that. It looks big and super sharp.
Now I'm looking into buying a 144hz gaming monitor. Many questions come to my mind regarding sharpness, installation, and performance:
1- Is it good to have such big actual FOV or is it bad for gaming to make your eyes move that much?! Or maybe is it small?!
2- If I'm to get a 24" monitor, and to simulate the same FOV, it means I need to sit with my eyes around 45cm away. Is this fine?! Reasonable?
3- Now my TV has a ppi of 80.11. I don't see any pixels from 105cm away. Now if the gaming monitor will be 24" 1080p, that means it will have a ppi of 91.79. So relatively similar ppi to my TV. Referring to point 2 above, if I currently look at my TV from 45cm away, I can easily discern the pixels. I'm afraid I will face the same on a 24" 1080p monitor. What do you suggest? What do you think?
4- If the gaming monitor will be 24" 1440p, it will have a ppi of 122.38. This would be much sharper I think and would be fine from that distance? (if that distance is reasonable referring to point 2 above).
5- The most important question though remains, can my PC handle a 1440p monitor at 144fps in most games or I'm better sticking to 1080p?!

Third, regarding my RAM, I have 1 stick of 16gb of DDR4 at 2133mhz and the other is at 3000mhz. When they work in dual channels the 3000mhz downclock to 2133mhz and hence they both run at 2133mhz.
6- Do you think replacing that 2133mhz with a similar 3000mhz stick will benefit me much?!
(Will my motherboard support dual channels at 3000mhz?! (tried googling that but not sure; probably yes!)).

Thanks guys.

Re: Recommendations for gaming Monitor & RAM Upgrade

I read your Concern mate ,  do not dive in the FOV and PPI dilemma , If you like playing on Big screen like me. Look for the overall comfort and immersivity level.

Simply keep your 2160p TV or Go with a new one 55" ( at least) 2160p Real HDR 1000. Wall mounted ( with a flexible mount)

For the 144hz monitor go for a 1440p 32" 144hz like the BenQ EX3203R  1800r Curvature or the Dell Alienware AW3418DW. 34- inch 21:9  -  3440 × 1440p 120hz 1900R Curvature.

For the Ram

2333mhz +  3000mhz ,  as you have 2300mhz go for a dual stick 2 × 8 3200mhz CL 16 Rams,  a sure benefit on the min fps and frame pacing.

Higher the frequency the more diminishing returns on tighter timings. The higher up you go on freq the less impact latency has.

DDR4-3200

@CL16

16 * 20 / 32 = 10

@CL19

19 * 20 / 32 = 11.875

DDR4-3000

@CL16

16*2 / 3 = 10.67

@CL19

19* 2 / 3 =12.67

Latency refers to the delay that occurs in data transmission as data moves between computer RAM and the processor.

I wouldn't buy anything with less than 96 PPI for one reason. 96 is the standard. If your operating system desktop settings scale the screen size by 125%, it means it accommodating to 120PPI. Less than 96 means you would need to use a lower resolution to get the same picture quality.
Get the 1440p / 24" screen if you want my advice.

@TechGuru, welcome back!

Re: Recommendations for gaming Monitor & RAM Upgrade

It is really a personal prefrence , but the most common is what @VincentKeyboard said.

The 1080 is not powerful enough for 1440p 144hz gaming , well , it depends on the game , but for most part it only spits out 80 to 90 solid fps average on 1080p. If you want to game on 1440p 144hz I'd recomend SLI for ultimate performance , or an rtx 2070 super. But then it all depends on what games you are playing and if you are playing competitively or so. Otherwise its better to go 1080p 144hz with the 1080

As for ram , yes you are defintely missing out on performance. 3000mhz is quite a big difference combined with ssd performance. Your motherboard supports 3000mhz of course , go for it asap.

Re: Recommendations for gaming Monitor & RAM Upgrade

Cheers guys for the recommendations and replies!

Yes, I'm a bit sensitive to pixelation. However, I may adjust later on but I won't be enjoying it to the max, tbh.
Currently, there's no way to upgrade my PC (cpu or gpu) so I guess I'll have to stick to the 24"/1080p/144hz to enjoy some high fps.
I'd love a higher resolution monitor... Maybe in the future when I upgrade my PC...

As for the RAM, I'll elevate that on my priority list then and try to do it ASAP.

Re: Recommendations for gaming Monitor & RAM Upgrade

Guys, excuse my ignorance but can fps simply be linearly interpolated?
For example, currently, I am hitting 60fps on 4k on most games with low to medium settings.
Can I say that since 4K is 2.25times the number of pixels of 1440p, then I'll be able to get: 60*2.25=~135fps consistently?!
Or can I say that since 4k is 4times the number of pixels of 1080p, then I'll be able to get: 60*4=~240fps consistently?!

Re: Recommendations for gaming Monitor & RAM Upgrade

I don't think so , for two reasons.

1.Cpu , Ram and the type of memory does affect the fps , not too much , unless bottlenecking.

2.There's a reason benchmarkers test the games on different resolutions instead of using one and then calculating what will be the fps on other resolutions.

Actually there is a third one , depending on ingame graphical resolutions. For example , low shadow settings sets the resolution for the sadows to 640x480 , so that will differ on 4k or 1080p. You get my point ? That and other graphical settings too.

I am no expert in those but that how i see it. Feel free to enlighten me whoever knows best
