Not sure how accurate is this, but you can get the Gigabyte Aorus Pro Wifi and it is 100$ cheaper than the Ace.

All Hero XI , Formula XI , and Code XI uses a beefy 4 phases design that deliver above 200 W of power to the i9 9900k. The end results what matters not the embedded design it self. Many boards uses 8 or 10 phases VRM but with low Amp per VRM power stage

You need simply  a quality z390 board to OC the i9 9900k , similar story with a z370 on the i7 8700k.

Overclock.net did a very detailed table and divided all the z390 ( From Asus and other Brands into Tiers)

Mm9hUMd.jpg

The Hero X , Formula and Code are Tier 2 Boards

https://www.overclock.net/forum/attachm … 28376&d=15

8 × SiC639 50A PowerStage on the Formula , Code , Hero XI will  ensure 200 - 250 W no power throtelling at all. With proper case cooling you can OC a i9 9900k normally and this matches testimonies of end hardware enthusiasts actually owning such boards. End result is very solid.

Re: What would You choose?

Thread hijack!

I'm thinking of upgrading my main rig as well, I'll keep it simple:

What I'm planning to get:

  • Aorus z390 pro

  • i9-9000k.

  • HyperX 16 gb x 2 (32gb)

  • Samsung 970 pro nvme m.2 512gb

  • Kingston ssd 960gb

  • Probably a cougar panzer evo (or any other good enough chassis, may use old one for budget cut)

  • Seasonic prime 850 titanium (or any good enough psu), may use old one for budget cut

What I'll be doing:

  • GTAV/witcher 3/some other games on 1080p (i still have a gtx 970)

  • Fat ass .net solutions on visual studio 2017(sometimes up to 4 solutions running simultaneously)

  • node/npm on vscode(ui stuff)

  • SQL

  • MongoDB

  • Elasticsearch

  • One at least or maybe two virtual machines(linux) mostly for machine learning/data science in python/R

  • Mainstream stuff: browsing(lot of tabs), video, music, excel, word...

Thoughts?

Re: What would You choose?

@scorz the specs are great.
You didn't mention the gpu though!

Anyway,
i need all of your help regarding the fan and airflow configuration in my newly built rig.
I have the xigmatek aquarius case.
It has :
3x120mm bottom fan slots.
3x120mm top fan slots.
3x120mm side fans slots. (currently used by 360 aio)
2x80mm rear fan slots.

All fans are available, 2x80mm Arctic fans getting tomorrow.

So I need your help giving me the best fans and airflow config out of this case in order to have the best temps.

Currently, my i9-9900k is running 35-45 degrees on Idle whatever the clock is (3.6Ghz to 5Ghz).

Re: What would You choose?

This case is not designed for good airflow; doesn't even front fan mounts.

You can try to get the best out of it though.

Bottom fans should pull fresh cool air into the case so the air goes up

Don't know what's on the other side of the case, but fresh air should come outside to hit the radiator inside. the bottom fans will push the hot air to the top.

Top fans should pull the air from inside the case to outside as an exhaust

Back fans should pull the air from inside the case to outside as an exhaust

Re: What would You choose?

Thanks for the reply Mr class.

Your suggestion was my way to go, but for the radiator, I didn't want it to be intake cause I didn't want to turn the fans to the other side which will make the backside of the fans visible, which isn't appealing.

So I had to make the radiator outtake.
And based on that,
Bottom 3 fans are intake.
Top 3 fans are outtake
Radiator 3 fans outtake
2x80mm fans intake next to the cpu.
2x80mm fans outtake in the back cable management chamber. ( where the radiator dissipates all the heat).

Even with this,
Still have high temps on the cpu.
It's either the cooler, or I suck at adjusting and overclocking.
