Motor Driver Schematics

I am looking to draw my circuit diagram by inputting the components I'm using (motor drivers, encoders, arduino mega, etc.), but when inputting the motor drivers, I get a schematic that doesn't resemble its pins of the footprint (there are additional resistors and connections on it). I am still a beginner in electronics so I don't quite understand the difference between footprints and schematics. Are the resistors a part of the driver or additional components I need to add?
This is the motor driver I'm using is Pololu product 2136

Re: Motor Driver Schematics

Resistors are electrical components. Usually with the motor its to either limit the current or to absorb voltage spikes instead of internally.

Footprints is where components land, so pins 1, 2, 3 ...
Schematics represent the connections with other parts, so its TX pin, Power, GND ...

Motor drivers can be as simple as a transistor. Depending on your driver, it may include protection features, current measurement, control, etc.
If you aren't sure what you are doing, but you want to try to make it work, that is fine. Just follow the layout, if there is an extra resistor add it.
