Just out of curiosity. Why would you need both hybrid and native?

What's a hybrid developer?

I think he means cross-platform development. Like react, Xamarin, etc... It's just a guess since he used it in the same sentence as native : P

Or could it be a developer that runs partially on battery power?

Ugh, I thought React was a JS framework for web applications. There's more to it than this?

Xamarin is Mono's new name, right? (WTF, Mono's been renamed into Xamarin FOR EIGHT YEARS!!! Where did time go?)

Nah it also supports Android and iOS as far as I know. Not sure if it's just like a web app in a webview or does it compile to native? Never got interested enough to actually learn any of that since I'm all for native development. You can feel an app is made using react, it never feels as good for me at least.

Mono? Xamarin is Microsoft's cross-platform solution for mobile development, also as far as I know.

Re: Freelance - Application developer needed

So apparently React has something separate called React Native (https://facebook.github.io/react-native/) that targets mobile application development. Is this what a "hybrid development" means?

Xamarin used to be Mono in a distant past. Originally it was just a(n open source) linux port of .NET. It used to be (mainly) sponsored by Novell, but after Novell went out of business things got muddy. At the time, the Mono people formed a new company called it Xamarin. I heard that Microsoft acquired them soon after.

I hadn't realized so much time had passed. I'm still a bit shocked!
