I have a question , Ogero test site clocks my landline at 5mbps but the as i stated above my actual speed is 6mbps.
Shall i plug my router on the landline box again to see if there’s any loss from the wiring? Someone told me that only 5% gets lost in the wites from the ogero box to an appartment. Is it true ? (I guess greed kicked in )
Don't worry about it now unless you are really curious. Ogero says I can receive 3 mbps, and that could be true before I changed my connection. The maximum attainable I had seen was around 2500 kbps and and now that number has more than doubled. I am sure if I switch to ADSL2 or ADSL 2+, the number would be even higher, but they locked me into G.dmt after all my dcs. I have family flying in next month so after they leave, I may switch to open speed and see what they can give me.

What’s Adsl 2 and 2+ ? U just get a different modem or something? And if u switch do u have to notify your ISP (for change of preferences on their part) ?

Hard to explain--it is just how the frequencies are utilized and the balance between stability and speed. For more stability, you get less speed and vice versa. If you have access to your modem stats, it will tell you how you are connected. And you can check out a calculator and what you could potentially be connected at given what you are synched at. Maybe someone else can explain it better than me too.

DSL Speed Calculator

G,dmt=adsl1 though not spelled out.

Thanks xazbrat for trying ,i guess i have to research it .

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin. 12.3 11.3 db
Line Atten. 39.6. 25.8 db
Data rate. 7049 1021 kbps
Max rate. 8228 1061 kbps
Power. 19.1 12.1 dbm
Crc. 444 8

I don’t know what any of that means or if they’re good figures ,i’m gonna research them but if any1 sees any issues pls let me know.
Anyone having extremely slow internet past couple of days?
RandomMemory wroteAnyone having extremely slow internet past couple of days?
Both at home and in the office the connection has been average to good
After some research i learned about the adsl modem figures .

I noticed an issue ,my snr was at 30.8 on thursday and now its at 12.4.

Does anyone know why ? I haven’t changed the location of the mode or the plug .i just unplugged it a couole of times .
If the speedtest on ogero website says the speed on my line can reach 3Mbps does it also mean that the connection would be stable at that speed?

It depends on many factors ,your house’s location with respect to the “central” and your internal wiring .

My home and office lines are up to 5mbps but my speed is reaching 7.

Today I applied for Ogero Fiber, I currently have IDM Open Speed, Ogero announced that they are open to fill the fiber form for submit, they said they are still checking how much clients there are in the area and the final decision is not yet taken, hopefully they go for it and the long waited 50mbps happens

Good luck, but which area?
North Lebanon - Kalamoun, luckily even that it is a small area Ogero decided to install a FTTC there

Wow ,i thought only users in ashrafieh ,hamra and ras el nab3 are eligible for vdsl .

Does anyone know if there are plans for vdsl on metn ? Like antelias or naccache ?
VDSL is everywhere if you're close enough to the centrale or to an active cabinet.
Anybody having problems with their connection in the Jounieh area?

But there is no Fiber there (FTTH) only in Hamra and achrafieh at the moment.
However if they have a FTTC you can benefit from VDSL, but still your application willl go to waste since it is only for FTTH.

you can check the deployment map, the Ogero contact person asked about the office I work for in Batroun, they said the FTTH is ready there and the installation can be done in a short amount of time

You don't need fttc to have VDSL. FTTC makes it possible at longer distances but if you're close enough to your centrale, you can have VDSL. I for example have been on VDSL since August in Jounieh in an area that still doesn't have FTTC.

Are you sure Ras el Nabeh is eligible ? I'm literally 200m away from the central office.

I know man, if you are close to the central office you can get VDSL without FTTC as long as the central office is equipped with VDSL hardware ... but in anayman_k7's case and as per the deployment map Qalamoun has FTTC therefore FTTH is not possible, however he also said the Ogero contact told him it is doable, so we'll see how it goes for him.
