i want to download videos of this site www.youtube.com
they lots of good stuff but the problem is you can only open the video and it opens inside the internet explorer i think using macromedia so is there any way to download to ur hardisk
generally, what to do is click on view source code of the web page, and search for the .avi, .mov, .wmv, .swf (very interesting for downloading flash games),... file in the source code, take the link and copy paste it in your download manager. sometimes the link is not "http://www.somewhere.com/videos/video.avi" but only "/videos/video.avi", in this case, if you were seing the page from www.somewhere.com/pages/somepage.html, you add in your download manager this: http://www.somewhere.com/page/videos/video.avi (you combine the 2 but remove de html page).
for youtube it's a little different as the link to the video does not show up in the source code, they send a code as variable. once i downloaded a video from there, but i can't remember exactly how. i remember that i have downloaded a flv file (which was the video), but i had to pass first by downloading a file (i think a playlist file) which contained the link to the flv file. i tried to re-do that now, but when i download the flv file i get an access denied.
so, they might have changed their security to stop people from downloading teh videos, or i'm doing it wrong. If i find out again how i did it, i'll tell you.
and to watch the video downloaded from youtube, you will need vlc player or another video player that supports flv files.
I found another way to download the youtube videos, u just need to go to http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php , u paste the link to the page on youtube that u use to watch the video, and they give you a link to download the file. You rename it to .flv, and play it...

u really wanted the files so bad
will use this in case wanted to download something

just download IDM 5.18 (internet download manager), and you'll be able to download any streaming video from the internet
This is what i normally do:
- get firefox addon "Cache Viewer" (or cache view or smth like that)
- set max cache size in firefox options to a value bigger then any movie you might want to download (like 300 megs should do it - it makes things faster anyway)
- Restart Firefox
- Load/watch video, then when it is fullly loaded, launch cache viewer and look for it (search for .flv and sort by size, you should find it)
- Select it and click Ctrl-S
