recording problem

when i play audio files, everything goes fine. However when I try to record something using a well-plugged microphone, it doesn't work :?

i have made sure that it isn't the microphone's problem

Re: recording problem

What sound card are you using?
Make sure your microphone is working correclty , there are several ways to do so > Try plugging it in a stereo and record onto a normal tape (cassette) , replay .
Make sure your microphone level is not set to null in your SoundCard preferences / settings window . Often [Start - Programs - Accessories - Entertainement - Volume Control]

Are you recording via Windows Sound Recorder or another application?

Re: recording problem

if ur using the normal pc soundcard, this should solve it:
go to your soundcard preferences (like erick mentioned or double click the speaker icon near the clock) , then go to option -> properties -> recording -> ok
make sure u select the checkbox of ur input (ie, if ur plugging into the linein , linein box should be checked as your recording source)
