help in this laptop problem !!!!

hello
i  have  an HP nx9010 laptop ,  and  it  was  working  good  .
the  last  time  i  was  working  on  it ,  i  suddenly  heard  a  strange  sound
( like  buzzing  )  and  a  vibration  just  under  the  touch pad  ,  just  where  the  hard  drive  is  located .
After  turning  it  off  with  the  power  button ,  i  couldn't  get  back  to  it  at  all .  The  system  shows  that  no  hard  drive  is  attached  on  startup .
I  tried  to  remove  the  hard  drive  and  re-install  it  ,  but  nothing  changed.

plz  if  anyone  can  guide  me  how  to  deal  with  this  problem ,  is  it  the  hard  drive  itself ?  or  the  connector  or  controller ? can  the  data  be  retrieved  in  a  way ???

thanks  in  advance

Re: help in this laptop problem !!!!

welcome mohmak

i think you laptop needs to be inspected in order to know the exact problem but first
did u get the message: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device ?
were u working while one of those thunderstorms going on ?

but here are couple of ideas
- try putting ur hdd as slave
- try booting of a live CD
- try removing the RAM , maybe electro charge
- when was ur last backup ?

Re: help in this laptop problem !!!!

hello
first  thanks  for  ur  fast  reply
well yes ,  that  problem  happened  on  the  last  stormy  day ... i  was  working  with  the  power  cable  plugged  in ,  but  on  ups  source  with  earth
protection ....
i  don't  get  the " reboot "  message ,  just  no  operating  system ...
and  when  going  to  the  bios  setup ,  no  hard  disk  is  detected  there .
i  booted  from  a  cd ,  and  choose  to  repair  the  hard  drive ,  but  i  got  the  message  :  no  hard  disk  was  detected .

Re: help in this laptop problem !!!!

you need to exchange your hdd
as long as no connectors are fried  this should work
i hope that the restore is not on a partition of the malfunctioning hdd
if you have the restore on the cds provided with the notebook you should be safe
as for the data you hook it up to a mac and use data rescue 2
