Hello all,
I have been facing a problem with a certain FTP link for several days. The FTP ports are opened and I can access other FTP links without any problem. Although, two friends of mine tried to access the link and it was a success.
I tried to open it with SmartFTP, Flashget, Internet Explorer and Firefox I got timed out.
Thanks.

(talk to me on msn messenger)
Are they using the same program? and why not try the normal ftp that comes with xp?

i don't think it's a prog problem, since he has tried to connect to the server through multiple apps
Maybe a bad connection, or maybe the server or the firewall have a problem with passive FTP mode, since the problem in the above log happens just after the PASV command.
FTP need 2 connection: control and data.
This is how passive FTP works
1-client opens a control connection to the FTP server on port 20
2-after login, the client isssues the PASV command, and the FTP server answers with an ip address and a port for the data connection.
3-the client opens the data connection to this ip and port.
