Internet/Network Curiosity

1. What internet connection do you have?
2. Is it any good?

3. What type of network do you have, if any (wireless, wired)?
4. How is the network set up?
5. How many computers are networked?

1. Internet: (KSA) Cyberia ADSL 256Kb/s downstream - 128Kb/s upstream
2. Its ok, downloads at an average of 30KB/s but I have a limit to how much I download (even though customer support said otherwise)

3. I've got a wireless 54G network + internet
4. basically I have a wireless accesspoint / router / adsl modem all built in one, so I just connect the phone line to the router and ka pow. Although I had a LOT of difficulties getting it to work it is stable now.
5. Currently 2 Pc's and a laptop, and upto 4 more laptops when friends come over.

What about you??

Re: Internet/Network Curiosity

1-internet
Beirut, terranet, 32k up, 512k down.
download between 35k and 55k
Web browsing is good, but i have seen better.
Limit on sessions (23) and limit on p2p apparently (about 12K) but i have a way around that, and no limit on transfer volume.
56k dial up connection with sodetel as backup.

2-Network
Ethernet network 100mbps
home: 3pcs
office: 15pcs
both networks are connected. I should separate them.

3-Router:
Fedora Linux

Re: Internet/Network Curiosity

You can tunnel your connections through the firewall.
They may be some free tunnels out there but I havent found any free tunnel with quality bandwidth.

Here are some commercial tunnels that I have tried:

1-httptunnel
5$ per month unlimited speed
low response make the kazaa download sometimes stay in "connecting" status. I prefer option 2.
http://http-tunnel.com/

2-Socks2HTTP
10$ per month for 25KBytes/s
Tunnel has exellent response and speed but limited to 25KB/s (faster is more expensive)
http://www.totalrc.net

3-hopster
10$ per month
if you ever come acress this service, forget it. Their webpage looks cute but they suck.

You can try any of these services by paying one month only.
