Nest Thermostat in Lebanon

Hello everyone,

Been a while since last being active here. Recently I moved to a new house and since I am into home automation, I am interested in buying a smart thermostat (example: Nest Learning Thermostat).
I heard from a friend that it requires a very complicated process because it is created to work with the American AC/heating system connectors and wires that are different than the installations generally available here.
In my house, I have air conditioners in different rooms and heating system (chauffage) but without a digital thermostat in the house.
Has anyone installed such thermostat in their house ?

Do you have split units or a central AC?
