  • SATA III internal SSD recommendations

hey peeps, I'm looking to grab a 480GB ssd, i think the prices are high on the market right now, anyone knows an upcoming sale, Friday perhaps ?

One more thing, my friend keeps nagging that i should only buy a Samsung Evo 860, what do you think ? 860s worth the higher price ?

Where ?
- Samsung 860 EVO
- Crucial MX500
- XPG SX850

If you can provide us with the usage of the SSD, we can give you a more solid recommendation given the specs of SSDs can be confusing for example some have DRAM others don't. For instance i installed a Samsung 860 QVO for my PS4 Pro.

I'm gonna basically have a lot apps open at the same time, plus save a lot big files/images as a designer... so I need buttery smooth navigation and fast loads/write/read speeds... i already got the RAM department covered with 16GB.

Then go with the Samsung given that you will require good endurance and if possible a 1TB model.

thanks man

and

thanks loop
If read and write speed are a priority i don't recommend to go with SATA.
Buy an NVME drive instead as both read and write are much much higher. I bought an XPG SX8200 1Tb from mojitech with SLC caching for around 180$ with 3400MB/s read and 3000 MB/s write while Sata caps at around 550MB/s in both.

i wish, but it's a laptop I'm dealing with so i can't install NVMes on it
Samsung 860 Evo - TLC with an MLC Cache

Samsumg 860 Pro - MLC
