I am considering few option to change the mediocre ADSL router that Ogero setup , I am living in duplex home with repeaters all over around but the problem is the router it self (it has a WLAN) , with over heating and sudden shut-offs that require frequent restarts. I have two options for replacement:

It has three Antennas

AC1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router (Archer D5) for USD 121

Supports 802.11ac standard -
Simultaneous 2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 867Mbps connections provide a premium wireless experience
Share a printer locally and files & media with networked devices or remotely via FTP server.
Ethernet WAN (EWAN) port accepts connections from cable and fiber modems via Ethernet cable
New web UI and Tether APP provide quick & hassle-free installation and easy management
It Has 2 Antennas

What is the difference , one has three antennas D2 (less expensive) compared to one that has 2 antennas D5 (more expensive) - but the D5 has Simultaneous 2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 867Mbps connections ( 1.2Gbps Concurrent Dual Band) and the D2 has simultaneous 2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 433Mbps (750Mbps Concurrent Dual Band ) , will that makes a difference on quality and signal range.

Any users of such ADSL modem routers (their range , reliability , heating issues , no discounts).

Best other alternatives that you are using - from you personal experience -Excellent Range , Single Quality , and Reliability.

Thank You
Have you tried updating the router's firmware ? Restarts could be due to an old firmware (not necessarily overheating).

I remember Ogero's "Thomson TG585 v7" modem had this restarting problem with the default firmware (version 7.4.x if I am not mistaken).

Yep , but nothing changed + The range of it is week (issue#2) , what do you suggest of my post of a new ADSL router modem choice , do you recommend any. Plus , shall I go with D2 or D5.
Get the 3 antennas one as you get stronger signal with 3 than 2(not by much though),also you won't benefit from the speeds of the second one in the near future.

Appreciated Mate

Are the D2 and D5 reliable ADSL router modems , and will the D2 range covers two floors.
Frankly, I have been using Ogero's Thomson modem (updated firmware) for a long time so I got no idea what to recommend.
I do agree, their range is rather short/ weak.
Out of curiosity how do you update the firmware? Currently at

Product Name: TG582n
Software Release: 8.4.5.9
You use a tool and you point it to the right file.
Always connect the modem to the PC via cable and preferably on "port 1" when updating.
Also never shut down the modem during an update.

I got my firmware a while back from a website called modem-help.co.uk . This website has now been closed/stopped by its owner.
It was a great repository for all brands and models.
Tech Guru wroteGeeks ,

My orientation is going towards the Asus Wireless-N600 Gigabit ADSL Modem Router. It seems very reliable from the reviews with dual cpus.

Looks good, but still, you can't guarantee that it will cover 2 floors.
Also, read the second post here: https://www.quora.com/Which-router-would-you-suggest-to-share-WiFi-between-2-floors ,might help.
I pulled the trigger and purchased the Asus N600. Range + Single Loss + No Overheats (Restarts) are ADSL Modem Router Dependable - , with an Ogero plan source of (6-8 Mbps) is unchangable sadly , but is better to have stable speeds compared to signal spikes , dips , and restarts comparable to Ogero & ISPs ADSL Modem Router they give.

Features (Quite Useful)

PS: Is the Asus N600 configurable at Ogero.
archer d5 is a great router...worth the ≈130-140$price
