Easter and new life resolution

Ok so here i am today i am writing this post not to brag about it or to show myself but i suppose i'm sharing a good news for most of you.

So this Easter, i am gonna take a new life resolution especially that i've reached to a conclusion that i cant a try to live a good life and that's both ethically and religiously while i'm still in the sin.
I mean i'm still stealing!
The same way i don't accept going to a store or a shop and stealing one of the items, whatever cheap it is, i still can't accept to steal anything from the app store or the playstore or even anything related to information or computing and anything online!
People actually stayed hours and hours programming so they deserve their wage and the cost of their product like any other product.

That's why i'm gonna make the following changes in my life for once and for all:
-i'm gonna unroot my android phone (although it has nothing to do with pirating) and i will uninstall every application or game pirated from both my android smartphone.
-i will unjailbreak my ipad and remove all the cracked and pirated software.
-i will try to unmod my xbox and get some original games.

I think this way i will appreciate more what i have because currently having a tons of games and playing none of them is not a good situation in any means. Picking one game for 50 bucks let's say and enjoying it and playing to the maximum (because i'm gonna appreciate the 50 bucks I paid) is much much better for me and for the developers.
Also regarding android and ipad applications i think if it's too good and i'm willing to keep it, it's better for me and for the developers to buy it. Likewise i will be supporting them supporting their work and not stealing it, which is wrong.

I think that's a full new life resolution that i'm willing to take.
I admit it's gonna be a very hard decision especially with the lifestyle i currently have.

Like any other stuff i see in the mall;  if i'm not able to afford it it's better not to buy it in the first place rather than steal it.
So if i'm not able to buy xbox games i'd better be off without an xbox then stealing the games.

I already bought my most important applications that i use on android and ipad. I will try to continue doing so.

I'm not bragging about it or showing myself.
In fact, I'm ashamed about it and I know that I'm late but better be late than never.
Just sharing a good news.

I'm sure this increase in my monthly expenses will not be a big burden but on the contrary it would be a relief and will not be a deal breaker or break my bank account.

I will be glad to hear more about it from you if anyone of you made the same step...

Thanks.

Congrats LifeEngineer, i can add my experience (which is that i stopped Jailbreaking) and i started paying for apps, i even pay for in-app purchases, its like a new way of thinking that they have the right to charge you because they did an effort to create this value (good/service), so once you start thinking like that, lots of things will change.

Good luck

Yo, for the Xbox sell it and get a ps3/4 it's much easier to get original games. Xbox original games are hard to find.

As for the root/jailbreak, it's legal to do so. So I'm not sure why you're doing this.

Yeah off course they are! I know root has nothing to do with cracking on android but it has on iOS!

My main reason for jailbreak was for cracked apps (although I have also some nice tweaks from cydia).

Also as ironman said, I want to change my complete mentality!

One side of it being stopping stealing, cheating, cracking, etc... which is mandatory!

The other side is I want to live freely without thinking about rooting or modding my device! Live freely without worrying about iOS 8.3 and 8.4 while I still have 8.1 ...  Besides having jailbreak is like opening a door to pirating... I may get weak... :(
I want to use the device just the way it was intended to!
I know it will be very hard for me (5 years of modding, rooting, etc... custom roms, cracked apps... never had a single unrooted phone... even never had a phone running on stock rom).... But I'm just fed up! I want to live like any usual guy!

Nothing's better than NOT TO FEAR updates, no more turning off windows update, no more Pressing Skip update, its awesome, i even started buying games on steam, nothing's better than playing online freely and getting daily updates.

An awesome step, keep it up.

I took a step similar to yours almost 2 years ago. I still have to some ways to go mainly TV shows and Movies department. But otherwise my current games library is genuine, and the software that i use on my PC and phone are all genuine, operating system included.

As for the digital media films, and tv shows, I am trying to avoid torrenting them as much as i can, however sometimes I am forced too, though i have bought blu-ray and dvd collections of TV shows that i enjoy as often as i can even if i am done with film/series.

If only Netflix is available and my internet speed is fast enough for uninterrupted streaming :/

Yeah man do you believe that I forgot about those...
I don't torrent movies or download movies because I rarely watch movies but the issue is with the cable because I get some scrambled channel opened on wifi!
I dunno how that works because I actually pay for it for the guy who installed it for me and I get an account with username and password.
But I think that's still illegal!

And yeah the situation we have here in lebanon, the lack of good internet and good dealers etc... force us to go illegal sometimes!
Even our parking lots may be illegal!

But at least it's a step in the right direction!

Re: Easter and new life resolution

I took this step a few years ago and I'm not religious at all. Ironically, my very religious friends still pirate and even made fun of me during the transition.

It feels great not to have to worry about updates and malware. It also feels good buying games knowing that they're all on your Steam library and that you have contributed to your favorite developers. I will admit, as haidcar did, that letting go of pirated movies is the hardest since not only do we not have services like Netflix in Lebanon that offer movies/shows for very low costs, but we get ripped off by places like Virgin. I don't want to steal, but I don't want to pay 80-90 dollars for a movie I'm probably only going to watch once. Although you can circumvent this problem by just watching all the movies you like at the cinema.

Also, stealing is a two-way street. These companies, especially video-game companies, that develop games 4-hours long or full of DLC and ask for 60 dollars and sometimes more are stealing your money. They release unfinished or incredibly stripped games and charge you the price of a full, complete game. That may not be theft in the technical sense, but it's theft in every other sense.
