Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 G1 Gaming 4GB GBBR5 - http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N980G1-GAMING-4GD/dp/B00NH2D5DC

if you have someone coming from the USA get one. It is much stronger compared to the 770 , and it is based on the Maxwell architecture which is more power efficient compared to the Kepler in the 7 series.
Also it includes in graphics sets which will implemented in Direct X 12 the 770 -780 will run Direct X 12 but not all the features but sub features.
I was going with Asus r9 290 on my system but suddenly the reviews on the new 980-970 GTX just rolled out on www.anandtech.com so I directly changed my mind although the Asus r9 290 comes in par in performance with 780. By the way I will get ThermalTake Tough Power 1050 W Gold Certified PSU. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8526/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-review
And they're releasing the GTX 880 soon as well. And yet everyone seeks to "future-proof" their machines! Ha!

Actually Nvidia decided to skip the 800 series

Actually many websites are claiming the 880 will be launched this fall
I will be ordering the 970 from the USA , but does anyone knows its availability in the Lebanese Market. PC and Parts said to me it is a new item and it needs couple of months to arrive !!
Yeah graphic cards are slow to come here because they want to finish their stock of older cards ;)
Even with dot.com.lb it would take 3 weeks minimum
Does any body knows the availability such GPUs (Asus , MSI , Gegabyte) , PC & Parts mentions that 3-4 months to be at stock! If anyone who is importing them / willing to sell I am very interested.

Thank You
How much do you need? And do you want them for personal use or for a business deal?
Gtx 780 vs gtx 980? Is it worth buying this new gpu?
If it really has Directx 12 yes or else it will be totally old with the next gen
what I always wonder is if nvidia and ati have the ability and technology right now to build graphic cards that are 100X better then the ones in the market today, but they don't and instead improve them slowly so people will be constantly buying them and they will make more profit this way, the same goes for the cpu's...

This is marketing!
Imagine Nvidia releasing a GPU with this kind of power, people who will buy it will keep it for 5 years (like a console gaming) and so Nvidi will not sell 25% of what they are selling now after a while.
Btw at this price for GTX970 (350$ in US probably 500$ here) I wonder if it will not be better to get a used PS4/Xbox 1, as I said if the GTX970 is not directx12 compatible, you will find yourself buying again the GTX 1070 at +350$ a year later which is a huge waste of money

GTX 970 and GTX 980 are both maxwell based. so they both support DX12.
Facts:

~A single card 970 or 980 is running next gen games at almost max settings in 4k at mostly playable frame rates... Most games on PS4 and Xbox one are struggling to get some games to play at 1080p at 30 fps where most cards that are a few years old can run the same games at 1080 above 60 fps. although you do get a good deal on consoles if you are considering price, and some PC's do get around similar specs currently for the same price, and the only way you are going to get the same specs for less than console is if you build it your self... so console is not a bad deal, but if you're not talking about price than PC's are obviously pretty far ahead.

~ The GTX 980 and 970 are the newest additions to the Nvidia line up running on the more power efficient and are DirectX 12 ready Maxwell architecture. The Direct X 12 will have a backward compatibility with older GPUs architectures (Example Kepler on the 7 & 6 Series) but they will not have a full Direct X Support ; Some implementations will not be supported.

~The 980 Outperforms the 780Ti which faster than the 780 ; and the 970 comes in par with 780ti and even faster in certain games. 980 > 970 >= 780Ti > 780 ... Watch "Crysis 3 - GTX 970 vs GTX 980/ GTX 780 Ti Gamepla…" on YouTube - Crysis 3 - GTX 970 vs GTX 980/ GTX 780 Ti Gamepla…: http://youtu.be/JalO4oHjhQA

Opinion:

970s and 980s Are for 2K for modern and yet to be released games ; even they manage playable FPS on the 4K Gaming Meanwhile the 1080p is the prevailing resolution now on many desktop monitors . PC gaming is far ahead from consoles .. Remember both the Xbox one & Playstation 4 are based on x86 architecture.
So anyone ordering a GTX 980?
I'm thinking to order one.
Only thing keeping me back, is thinking rather to wait a little bit, maybe they would release a GTX 980ti to something like that.

Who will order a 980 here?
I Will order one look for either Gegabyte 980 G1 Gaming or Asus 980 Strix Series .. I am still probing for a reliable source. ETA in the Lebanese Market is around 2-3 months minimum. I will not wait for such time ; if you have a reliable / trustful way with an warranty ( at least an RMA) I am interested. Do not wait for a Ti series .. 980 has a lot of horse power and overclocking potential due to Maxwell efficient architecture ( runs cool and consume around 180 W for the 980)
Any way to order them from US? anyone tried doing so ?
I want a 980 and a 5.1 sound card
