Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

Thanks for the info michael.
Now I have a better idea of what is happening. But I'm out of ideas for solving the problem.

Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

Last time I Checked they were the top 2 porn sites visited from Lebanon according to Alexa. Yea I know it's not very accurate but still.. Maybe that's the reason

https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en, you can thank me after watching your porn.

Have you tried anonymouse browsing? I know it's not that helpful but still a temporary solution.

@Rolf,
Thank you for trying to help.

@Hybrid,
It is much simple to use hola unblocker on Chrome. I use it most of the time to access Pandora. But I tried with xnxx and xvideos, it works just fine.

@Johnaudi,
Anonymous browsing doesn't work :)

Do Ogero http requests go through some proxy? if so, they could be using it to hardcode DNS requests.

I think they are filtering according to the host domain in the HTTP request. The IPs are accessible, so is google's DNS server, but neither of these workarounds solve the problem.
That is of course assuming that the filtering is happening in Lebanon. As I said it is possible that it is the website itself that would block traffic. Why they would do that, who knows.

Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

Well guys, try using the Hola extension in Chrome (I think you can also get it on Firefox). It's a website specific VPN. You can enable it and disable it on the same web page.
I think it's a simpler alternative than installing a new browser. You can also get it on Android and iOS. I find it very helpful.

Tell me what you think.

Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

The problem is not in accessing the Pron, the problem is with the ISP's blocking it.
Remember when they also blocked the online gambling websites, what if these are just the beginning & soon other things will be blocked?

This is internet censorship and it needs to be fought.

Try opening bing.com and search for pr0n it says this shit:
"Your country or region requires a strict Bing SafeSearch setting, which filters out results that might return adult content. To learn more about SafeSearch requirements in your country or region, see How Bing delivers search results"

This is not related to Ogero this is on all ISP's. Get your pitchforks

There's a memo from Ogero to block 6 sites published in 25 August. Search for it on Facebook

Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

I just read the communiqué (thank you for it btw). So it's official, the Lebanese government is blocking those websites. However, it does not explain why they would want to block the websites. Can they just do that? Without any clarification?
I mean it began with the online poker websites, and now this.

This is bad news.

Lots of minors use such sites. I mean there are more minors using them then there are adults. Maybe that's why

People who intend to use this should be warned Tor is no child's play and can land you in serious trouble. Well not exactly Tor, but the "deep internet" which it gives you access to. Beware how you use it as there is a high chance it can land you on CP sites or other sites with illegal material, and if you're caught then you'll get in some serious trouble.

Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

Well I don't think anyone here is using Tor to buy drugs from "the deep web". We're just saying it's a method to access those blocked porn sites. I just tested it , works flawlessly and even streams faster then what it used to back in the days of using google chrome. Even tho accessing the deep web via Tor isn't something many people are aware about , even being aware of such thing even exists.

True, but some people get tempted especially since they're already using it for pornographic reasons they might try to go further

I wouldn't be so sure :)
But yes, a warning is needed. The "deep web" is a place outside the reach of law enforcement most of the time, so you have to act smart and be careful.
Although in my personal opinion there is little chance of getting caught, but you would still want to keep away from child porn and such because even if the chance to get caught is low these are things most people will regret looking at and will want to erase from their memory.

Anyway it's not very practical in this case because well first I don't know how flash works with Tor, and even if it works without any work needed, the performance of Tor will just make watching movies an exercice in Zen meditation.

I think a realistic option is a paid proxy / VPN service such as hidemyass.com , but he said he doesn't want to use any of these.

You are wrong on something. Flash is auto installed when you click on a video. Second it's pretty fast and works flawlessly. You can watch long videos without seing the word buffering a single time , exactly as it was before the blocking. I agree with the other things you said , people should be extremely careful. Give it a try yourself and see.

Re: Ogero blocking some pornography?

vengeance666 I think you are wrong on something. Flash connects to the internet directly, not through the browser. Depending on your browser it will read the proxy settings from your browser and apply them, so it may work without problem in many cases and setups. I know that by experience, while trying to watch video in flash over an HTTP proxy.
But I'm not going to try anything, I already have an idea of what would happen. You try watching a Flash video on Tor, and let me know how much fun it is.

You guys are missing my point  Yes flash connects to the internet directly and Tor warns you about that , the thing is just use Tor to access the website and browse it , and play the videos using Adobe Flash Player plugin. Again this is only about the blocked porn sites and how to watch videos with normal speed , not going into other "deep" situation. You are looking to watch porn , not looking for privacy here , that's why the plugin is the thing.

I guess it's like telling people not to use fire to burn societies, iron to build weapons or computer to create a virus. Most of them won't but some will, which I'm sure if they already have the intention to do it they would already know about tor and similar projects.

I personally don't even use tor, I have a USA VPN that i use to watch netflix and cbs videos, but tor is free and easy to use, which is why I suggested it.

Shouldn't there be some kind of explanation as to why they're blocking them? What was their excuse when they blocked the poker websites?
