Re: Post your rig

so today was interesting, i managed to pull of my first case mod: Blue leds strips on the top and bottom, i think it looks good!

since its my first time showcasing my setup might as well list my specs, this was a continuously upgraded system:

CPU: Intel i7-4790k OC at 4.4ghz
COOLER: Corsair H100i
MOBO: ASUS Z97 Pro gamer
GPU: ASUS Strix GTX 980 4gb (im tempted to SLI)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 8x2gb 2400mhz
SSD: 2x Kingston HyperX 3k SSD 240gb (not raided, 1 for OS, 1 for Games)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2Tb
PSU:Thermaltake Smart Series 730W (im eager to get rid of this one)
CASE: Thermaltake Core V71 full tower
MAIN MONITOR: LG 34UM95 ultra-wide QHD IPS panel, 3440x1440 resolution
SLAVE MONITOR: LG 23EA53V-P Full HD IPS Panel, 1920x1080 resolution (was my main monitor)
GAMEPAD: Xbox360 controller for windows
HEADSET: BLOODY G501 radar 360 gamingn 7.1 headset
generic Keyboard and mouse.

What do you guys think of the PC, and the leds?

@silo_m8

Nice Build Overall - Are you monitoring your GPU Temperature what are your readings - from where did you get the blue led strips / add some white too kind of dark inside - how much your system overall cost you.

IF you want to SLI sure get rid of the Thermaltake Smart Series 730W  and get an Thermal Take 850 Tough Series (80Plus Gold Certified) fully modular.

What are you playing these days !

Airflow isn't the best, my strix is idling at 30 c and peaking at 69 c with an overclock of 1450mhz on the core with the power limit at 110%.

I got the blue led strips from an electric shop, i soldered the strips to 4 pin molex connectors that I cannibalized from an ancient power supply and plugged them into a 6pin-to-molex adapter for 12v. If you see it live, it's actually not dark so I think it looks good.

As for system costs, it was a continously upgraded system so I didn't keep track much, but the main reason is that if I keep track, i will feel bad about the costs. I buy my parts for lebanon and I'm a relatively early adopter for new parts, so the prices have the usual lebanese markup. In short, the system costs more than I would like to admit.

As for sli, after extensive research I realised that the thermaltake psus are actually bad and not very efficient, even the toughpower didn't make through the gauntlet of tests that review site put it through.  So I was considering either an FSP AURUM or a COUGAR Psu.

As for the games I'm playing: recently finished Gta v, playing mortal kombat x, witcher 3, heroes of the storm and hearthstone.

you are definitely right about the airflow, the intake fans are just too far and not powerful enough to really pass air through the components, and as for the psu, the highest efficiency rate cougar psu i came across was a bronze. thermaltake do make good psu's, but also some really bad ones (different OEM manufacturers for each model)

Not All Thermaltake PUS are not Reliable ; the Tough power series has proved it self to be very reliable and  efficient  to be used at high end systems:

Also,  Corsair makes a Tier 3 PUSs (not solid) like the CS Series:

Re: Post your rig

If you're willing to get parts from outside of Lebanon, I'd suggest you get an Antec, EVGA, XFX or Seasonic PSU.

I might be coming to Lebanon on Eid il Fitr. I might be able to get you a Seasonic PSU from Dubai. I've seen them, they are beautiful.

Very nice RIG man congrats on the new items

I wanted to buy that Case but I then went with a similar smaller version of it which is the CM690 III (I like it)

I got a ToughPower GOLD 750Watt PSU It's running great for now. RM series is a mice choice too.

I also want to mod my case with LEDs it you don't mind sharing more on where you got them

MY PICS ARE COMING SOON BUT I WANT IT TO LOOK NICE BEFORE I POST

I bought a standard led strip from an electric shop (same led strips that are installed in houses, pools, etc...)

Then I soldered 2 wires to them, then I cannibalized a male molex power connector,  and soldered the 2 wires on the 12v pins on the molex, and then molex to pcie power connector on my PSU.
