Website Ranking on Google Search

Good day everyone,
I've launched a school website months ago using the Joomla CMS . It still needs some work to be finalized but my question is how to let the website appears to be the first choice when searching for the school over Google?
I have fixed the meta names and meta keys through Joomla Script, what can i do next? Do i need a company to make the required SEO in order to reach my results?

Google uses something called page rank a software they made that would rank the search pages. i am not sure how it works but it depends on how much traffic your website generates among other variables.
