Hey everyone, this is my first topic
Today,i bought Shogun 2 total war limited edition from Nino and since all pc games in lebanon are not original, some of them really give you a hard time figuring out how to play them properly. I am just going to ask this for now, is there anyone here who owns the game (not original of course) and played it normally after installation?
yeah, I did! everything was normal... I'm a huge total war fan, and just wondering how much did it cost you?60$?

Thanks for the reply
it doesn't seem you live in lebanon because the place where i got it (Nino) only sells pirated versions of pc games as any other video game store here in lebanon so most people here run into some problems installing the game properly. i got my copy for 12000 lebanese pounds which is like 8$ and it looks like i won't get it to work unfortunately :( i am also a huge fan of the total war series. i played and loved Enpire tw and now i think am going to tell my uncle to get me the medieval 2 total war gold edition from france and might as well include Shogun 2 with it.
nah, I live in Lebanon too, unfortunatly:P
I got it for 5000L.L from bourj hammoud....so whats the problem with it? whats your specs? did you update the drivers(direct x, nvidia physx, c++, msxml...)? they're very important, the game didnt work on my pc because I didnt update install the new msxml...good luck, and I recommend you play "Rome:Total war"!
I got the game and played it for 15min, before i uninstalled it. Didn't like it much.

Just make sure you update your drivers, it needs quite the requirements to run smoothly. Usually the required drivers are in a folder within the DVD, check it out.

ok i took your advices and downloaded and installed all the drivers that could be important such as msxml 4.0 sp2 and sp3, nvidia physx, c++ 2010,my directx version is 11 so no need to update. but when i click to run shogun 2.exe i get the first loading page and then the game crashes. My game copy consists of 2 disks with a fairlight installer included. the fairlight installer installs the game even though the 98% error gave me some problems(this error was discussed in some sites and was given a solution) and at the end of installation i am given the option of automatically applying the crack and patch and i always click yes but when i go to the directory of the game in program filesx86 i don't see any shogun 2.exe so i do it manually but the problem still persists.

tahnx for the reply
the dvd only provides me with c++ 2005 and 2008 and a directx update.
hmm, everything seems good with your specs, you should be able to run it, and yeah mine are 2 dvds too, 1 is a dvd 9 and the other is a normal dvd, and I think the game is about 18gb if I remember correctly, how does it crash? what does the error say?

The crash happens just after i click on the shogun 2.exe and as any total war game you will first see the logo of the game with a small paragraph but that is as far as the game goes. i will then see a "Shogun 2 total war stopped working" and when i click stop program the same thing happens another 2 times (Shogun 2 total war stopped working thing), seems there is more than one problem because each announcement shows a different error page, i think, i wish i could post the error pages but i got so pissed and deleted the shogun 2 total war file from the computer.
moreover, i asked a person who works with computers (softwares and usual pc things) to help me with the installation but after trying he said that getting this game to work is impossible because there is something wrong with the content of the 2 disks. Looks like the game is causing me the problems and not anything related to my pc. too bad i am not going to be able to play this game:(
man, you should just go to BH and buy it, my game doesn't even have a crack, and trust me its great and really worth playing (if you like startegy/total war games...)
