I am going to France tomorrow to start university there. As everyone that travels outside the country, I have to stay in contact with friends and family. However, International calls are really expensive. Yes there is skype, but i am looking for a VOIP program from my blackberry since i want to keep blackberry messenger there and Skpye isnt available for blackberrys. The program i want can run on my blackberry and on our families home computer(windows 7)
IF any here has used such a program, please share asap !
VOIP isn't supported on Blackberry...RIM curbed that one. I think you're out of luck, but I hope there is some software available, here's a short list that at least does what you want (I hope):

1) IM+ Talk: supports Skype but you have to push button to talk.
2) Loudtalk: also push button to talk but can only run on mobiles if I'm not mistaken.

I'm assuming you do not want any software that makes voice calls to skype, etc... but uses your normal GSM network and voice data to make the call.

Also the only Blackberries to currently support Skype are Verizon Blackberries, so maybe that could help in any way if you can convert your Blackberry's IMEI, MEP, etc... to appear as a Verizon Blackberry?
there is currently (to my knowledge) only one good running sip program that could deliver voip to blackberry. it is blackvoip. it is a sip dialer, so in order to use it you will need a sip account. If you need help to setup a sip this is the free option I recommend for you. you first need to look for some kind of internet phone number provided for free, best options are sipgate or gizmo (if you already have one). next you have to setup google voice to work with that number, afterwards you need to ask your family to call your google voice number which is an american number. I know it is not perfect but at least your family gets to call you at cheaper lebanon-usa rates, or you could help your family set up another internet calling line (google voice) but on gmail (gmail has a built in feature for making free internet - usa calls) thus making your calls free.

if you need more help feel free to contact me, or you could google: how to setup line google voice sipgate or something like that and you should get some answers.

EDIT : apparently you can configure blackvoib directly with google voice, so you could cut the sipgate step for your phone. the only disadvantage is that you need to pay for the program but it is worth it.

Your post was a mite ambiguous but very informative, could you please explain more? I think many people who own a blackberry would appreciate your help.
sure no problem, lets start with the basic. I'm not really sure about the quality of the calls that will occur and will vary greatly depending on the internet connection you have.

What do you need?
In order to run voip calls for free from Lebanon to your blackberry you need:

- A blackberry with Blackvoib installed (payware) http://www.blackvoib.com/

-Two gmail accounts.

- For configuring both google voice account you need to have an american number, in the video below it is shown how to do this using a voip line for free, if that doesn't work you can always search for other free american lines on the web. if you need any help just let me know.

- An active google voice account on your gmail. (for registering outside the USA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=occjeAOe5tM&feature=related)

- A second google voice account working on your home computer for people staying in Lebanon to use.

- A working gmail calling service on the home PC (in order to activate it you need to put your gmail in english and look for the call option on top of your gtalk contacts inside the mail).

How to?

-Lets first create both gmail accounts on www.gmail.com

-install on the gmail account going to be used in Lebanon the www.gmail.com/call plugin.

-Go to https://www.google.com/voice and register both your gmail accounts into google voice

-you should now be able to do this from your gmail acount http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG190LlSmrg

-Afterwards you gotta go to your blackberry device and download the blackvoib (sip dialer), you gotta pay for the program but you can at least try the trial and if you like it then buy it.

- Now follow the instructions in blackvoib in order to configure google voice to work with it.

- After google voice is working with blackvoib you can try to make a call from your pc to your phone for free, as long as you are connected to the internet. In order to make calls from the pc just login to gmail and call as shown in the video.

Hope it is helpful, enjoy!
