Using a tablet as a phone?

Hi everyone,

Someone asked me whether he can use an iPad2 or an HTC Flyer as a phone (i.e: make phone calls to regular Lebanese numbers). I thought this is possible since the tablet can take a SIM card, but he said that it does not work. Is that true? Is there anything someone must do to activate the tablet as a phone?

true,both can't make GSM calls,they use the SIM slot for 3g usage..btw the samsung galaxy tab/8.1/10.1 can make calls,so i'am sure that some talented developers can add this feature for the htc flyer

but keep in mind that if you used Galaxy tab ( and i think it would be the same for the flyer if it become available) you can't put the phone on your ear and talk you must use bluetooth (or normal) headset or the loudspeaker.

Guys anyone interested in the jailbreak community? iPhoneIslam created a tweek through Cydia that let's you make calls and send smss. It's called PhoneitiPad . But it only works on the iPad 3G (hopefully the iPad 2 3G since i've been waiting for it)
