I'm in the market to buy a brand new laptop. Here's what I'm looking for :
-Intel Core i5 or greater.
-HD display or 1280x800, no 1333xbullshit display, 15.6" or more. This is probably the most importance aspect as I'll be staring at it for at least 5 hours per day.
-Dedicated graphics card.
-Solid build, keyboards bending under my hands is simply .... ARGH.
I'd like to keep the budget under 2.000$. Any suggestions? I saw Dell shit, HP shit ... does not compute. I need something well built, solid, and performing.

Let's filter out a few things.
I myself would rule out any HP Laptop no questions asked.
Ali, have you considered a 15" Macbook pro ? (budget would be pushed a bit)

@xterm, Macbook pro is fine. What kind of resolution does it have? And are there any better shops then m2? They tend to overprice things.
Ninja edit: Are there any Toshiba Qosmio users in here? What's your input?

I'm quite sure the prices m2 has, are the same as any other
respected retailer out there =)

As long as you do not buy an HP, you should be fine.
But, from what I've seen recently, I would say you should consider buying a MacBook Pro.

what the fuck happened to 16:10 laptops? It looks like the MacBook Pro is my only option *Sighs*.

If it were up to me, I'd go for a 15" MacBook Pro and I'd very happy with my decision. Simply put, the machine itself is magnificent, combined with OS X you'll have loads of fun, especially now that the new OS X is out. Great UI, great underlying platform. Furthermore, I've seen loads of users in my company use Windows 7 through Bootcamp and it really works great. Others are using windows through MacFusion (or is it VM Fusion?) and they're really happy about it.

A little bit off topic, but where do you suggest I get it from?

I think your best bet is to make all the vendors fight each other. Collect prices from: Interlink, Adkom, PC and Parts, Mac store and the lot, then call each one and tell them the price you got from the other, then do that until each one of the vendors says "We can't go lower".

Just Go with a Toshiba with the same specs you want , don't buy Windows OS on it , and install linux ( that's what i do )

Usually that's followed by "because..."

Shekval, please at least suggest a model and I haven't found a toshiba with 16:10 aspect, almost all of them are 16:9 and I don't want that.

Ali, trust me, a MacBook Pro is what you really want. Just look at my avatar (to the left) and you will see that this is not coming from an Apple fanboy who is trying to push whatever Apple "claims" to innovate onto you :)
But to be honest, I played around with a MacBook Pro and I could easily see the difference right away. The touchpad alone could be a deal breaker.

Totally, but when you see how people get ripped off, you would do it with pleasure.
Rody
people get ripped off when they choose the wrong supplier, if you sell/drop your supplier for $1.00 i can assure you that he will sell for $0.50
you can easily call and ask several shops and opt for the one you find suitable without making a fuss out of it by keeping the price to yourself
sometime they call each other and ask if they offered this client the price you claimed, this way you will end up in shit
i once got a refurbished printer because it was $5.00 cheaper than my regular supplier
enjoy !!!

I'm not saying that we should lie, you're mentioning the exact price that was given to you, so even if they do call each other, they're fighting over a percentage that shouldn't be there to begin with.
Retailers are shoving an increased price on parts ranging from 5% to 20%. Most start with either 15% or 20% and that's incredibly high. You, as a consumer should not be paying more than 5%, because you're getting slapped with V.A.T. as well, so you should keep bargaining until you're sure that you're not being ripped off.

Macbook pro 15" or Dell 15" laptops.
Not sure about Sony, but whatever you do just CROSS OUT "HP/Acer/Toshiba".
