Because most of the above are not available as new, these models are not offered anymore

Probably still in stock somewhere. Intel didn't stop manufacturing the old Pentium 2 till 2004. They needed to keep providing parts.

Exactly. And few days ago, i assembled a dual core desktop. Parts are everywhere but at a low price of course...

From where did you buy the parts ?

You have to look. I got mine from a store in Jeitawi in Ashrafieh.
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz
It was a relatively cheap and the guy assembled it from stocked parts. He wanted to give me the CDs that came with the Intel box but I said I didn't need them on Linux.

Right on, I actually did some calculations, got the current market price of the components and divided by 2, which gave me around 400$. I am going with that price.
