  • Renting a car in Lebanon

Good evening friend, I have some questions about the subject. I was thinking of renting a car for the whole summer so it would be easier for me to move everyday. But I heard that there is a certain age(around 23) to be able to rent plus your driving license should be with you for more than a year(8 months in my case) is that true for all companies or just some?

I don't know anything about this stuff and If someone has a rough idea how much it would cost for 3 months it would be great. I am not looking for anything fancy, a Kia picanto would be enough for me.

Thanks for your help and have a good day :)
I don't have a good idea but I know a place that will rent out some nice cars. it's in Mar Takla near the church.
Rent the car from ANB the mazda people last summer they were renting the mazda 2 for 35 bucks automatic, that's how much other were charging for the manual picanto...

blabsters 35$ a day is approximately 1150$ per month, so 3450$ for the whole summer. Ayman could get a down payment for a car for that price.
You're renting a car. If you want to spare money you can probably find cheaper. But if you want much less then it might start to look as if you're expecting to rent a car at the price of a bicycle, also forgetting that the car rental agency have expenses and want to make a benefit out of their business.
I am not up-to-date about car rental prices, but I estimate the cheapest cars would start at $25. If there is cheaper then that, please, let me know!
Prices might be seasonal so I can't be sure if it's still the case but from January to March, I rented a Kia Picanto and a Hyundai i10 for $15 a day from these people: http://www.bossrentacar.com/
Where are you going to be staying? If you are going to be in the Beirut area, there will be enough vans, buses and taxi's to get you around and you can grab a rental car if you want to take a weekend trip somewhere. If you are going to be in a more isolated area, then unfortunately you will need a car, and the cheapest I know of is in the $25 range too. Unfortunately this is the summer, so I doubt you will find cars that inexpensive, but you may want to inquire if they have monthly rates--it will save you some money.
Hey guys thanks for your feedback, from what I have seen so far seems like it's going to be pricey for me and the cheapest car for rental is like $25 per day which is not affordable at all for me.

I already live in a somehow remote area from Beirut(Mansourieh) and this summer it is going to be hectic for me with buses and service because I have both university courses and internship in 2 different places away from home so thats why, its not for fun or for "enjoying my summer", just to reduce some frustration and time waste during my day thats all.

I was and still expecting something like $10 per day, thats all what a person like me can afford now (given that I will have to be paying fuel too!) and i doubt that such a thing is possible especially in the summer season.

I think If I am going to end up paying like $400 per month for car rental I could be paying that amount for an actual car of my own after paying some down payment, I will see how things go.

What I can conclude is that: transportation in this country is a joke, I personally prefer public transportation over having to drive every day, in theory it would be cheaper, less frustrating, and more environment friendly but you can't rely on it in Lebanon at all. I will open a new thread about this subject.
Don't be stupid. Public transportation is way more affordable to you. Renting a car AND paying for fuel is going to cost you a fortune.

I know that public transport is cheaper but it has become very hard for me and its not reliable but I think it will stay as my only means for :P

Are you sure you can't talk them down below $25/day I mean you are gonna be renting the car for like a month try to hassle them down below that... Try to work something out like you not paying the tax aw shi
I've been driving a rental Kia Picanto for the past 6 months and have been paying 15$/day got from Limo rent-a-car send me a message if you're interested.
yea thing is your gonna be renting it for 3 months so price/day should go down considerably (even without haggling). I mean most car dealers have different offers for that amount of time.

P.S.: off topic, food for thought: quantization of time / space-time..... damn

It sounds hard to me that anyone could make benefit by renting a car at such prices. That's about $3600 a year, assuming that the car is rented every day (probably not the case). And then they need to pay insurance, taxes, repair jobs and maintenance... You can see it's gonna be pretty hard to find someone willing to rent a car at such prices.

PS: Apparently you can rent a kia picanto at $15, but I think $10 is pretty low for a car. If you can afford $15 you can apparently get a basic car, which looks OK for small trips and city driving.

In any case, good luck!
Ayman, check the car rental companies and see if they have monthly rates. A lot will be happy to rent for an extended period because they will have a guaranteed income for the duration and as a result, the rates are lower than daily rates. Also, do a check on weekly rates--in any case, it will only take a few keystrokes to find out. Avis is probably one of the more expensive ones--check their monthly rates and see if that gives you a starting point.

Others can give you the names and addresses for the other car rental companies here.

Hey Guys,
So i dug the forum and found this topic.
I am looking to rent a car on Sundays (1 day, Sunday only) which is the day that me and the girlfriend go out etc...
And i am sick of using public transportation such as buses or services!

Anyway i am looking for a place (in Beirut, Preferably near Dekwaneh area) to rent a car on Sundays.
The budget would be 20$ for Sunday,or 25$ Max.

So if anyone knows a trusted place which they have dealt with them before, please guide me.
Thanks.
