I am trying to make a new screen on a 10g application that includes a Browse bottun. The Browse button can browse .xls files and then the screen is supposed to read this .xls file and throw the records into a table in the database. Anyone knows what is the PL/SQL command that allows you to read .xls files? There should be one i reckon as PL/SQL can read from text files.

I don't know Pl/SQL but maybe this will help?
You can save the excel file to a .csv extention: it will be a text file comma seperated.
this {
A1:Name
A2:ID
B1:Tony
B2:023
}
becomes in a .csv extention
{
Name,ID
Tony,023
}
you can then read the file as a text file and seperate rows by "\n" and colums by ","

Thank you :) After thorough research I found out that the easiest way is to save the file in .csv and write snippets to read accordingly.
