http://www.dailystar.com.lb/Business/Lebanon/2011/Jun-14/Mtc-touch-slashes-rates-with-three-new-prepaid-cards.ashx#axzz1PES8f2FO

In summary:

Services new prices:
Blackberry internet service (30 USD)
Mobile internet (3.75 USD)
CLIR (7.5 USD)
Missed call SMS notification (75 cents)

What are the current rates / minute?
They are:

36 cents/minute from 8 am to 10 pm
29 cents/minute from 10 pm to 12 am
22 cents/minute from 12 am to 8 am
wow it's 3 cents cheaper. Now that's what I call a revolution! :)
watch out USA its just a matter of a couple thousand years and we'll catch up with you !!
mobile internet is for 3.75$, they are talking about the wap or the GPRS ?
@Megacool: Some change is better than no change at all. In addition, changing the rates down to a very low level would put a negative toll on profits.

@Chup: This is Lebanon. Whatever one operator introduces automatically transfers to the other operator. Duopoly at its best.

@haidcar: My guess its for the WAP access since it only applies to the prepaid cards. GPRS is only available to prepaid Blackberry users and post-paid users.
Any idea when those rates will start applying?

Tomorrow.
We hope they improved the network to support the "higher" traffic imposed by these rates :/
or else there's no benefit if each call needs 2 or 3 attempts to be done !

Its wap...
GPRS costs about 15$ if I'm not mistaken and you will get like 50 Mbs max.

And keep in my mind if you switch to any of these plans..You will lose all your current $s.
Alfa launched "Alfa Waffer", a new prepaid based subscription.
Alfa is a new prepaid plan that offers discounted rates on voice calls, SMS, and prepaid services. Just choose one of the following Alfa recharge cards: $9.09 or $15.15 or $27.27 (VAT excluded) to be your 30 days' commitment.
http://www.alfa.com.lb/pre/NewPlan.aspx
If you look at the prices carefully, you can notice that the prices are not equally proportional for time given ( prices including proposed VAT):
10/30 =0.333 Start
15/60 = 0.25 Smart
30/120 = 0.25 Super

then the Start Package should be 7.5$. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Monkey D. Luffy wrotethe Alfa plan is much cheaper for prepaid users (:
it's true but the alfa signal isn't as strong as mtc's in some areas plus the services offered by alfa have a lower quality than these offered by mtc
in the end both operators stink and that's because of the lack of competition between them !
Haha I called to check, it seems that you can only recharge ONCE per month and no more, which is why the SOS package is there ... this change is totally useless
However, do they still consider a minute as 0 s --> 60 or no ? Or is it like i talked 1:02 min is considered 1:02 min or 2 min?

Doesn't seem they changed that. Its still the same.
/me waits for the day they make GPRS available for people without a "5at saaaabeeet"
