while googling last night, i found out that android apps could run on a pc, what you have to do is to install an android emulator such as youwave android, and then you can just download any android app directly on your windows pc and run it using the emulator, but the software is 95 mb which, in lebanon, is a huge number
and would take like forever to download, so does anyone know if there's a lightweight alternative ?
In order to use Whatsapp, the application needs to send a verification SMS to make sure the phone number you're using is actually yours. Which means you got to have a sim card.
This is impossible inside the emulator.
corrected it to android apps, but in these days anything is possible on a pc, even sms could be sent via pc, so why didn't they work on a whatsapp messenger for windows ?
by the way, do you know how to edit the title of the post ? because i'm a newbie here
It is possible to send SMS from your PC but not from inside the emulator, let alone receiving the verification code back.
Anyway, Whatsapp is the only cross-platform mobile messenger (compared to BBM, iMessages...) that is widely used.
It would be interesting to have a desktop client.

I'm not sure you can change the title.
Its not totally impossible since you can use whatsapp on ipod touch
Verification code is to verify that you are the owner it doesn't verify if the device has sim card in it
Good point jadz, since you can use whatsapp on ipod touch that means it could work on pc, if it really happens, i can assume that whatsapp would be the best messenger software since it connects all the different operating systems
i just downloaded and tested it, and it didn't work :( seems like it needs to send a message through SMS. But later i made it work somehow but your line does not work on 2 devices it will be either your pc or cellphone
But let's say I have already registered my number on whatsapp using a phone and the verification SMS had been sent, shouldn't that work?
I dont think so, because you do not connect to whatsapp by using an account and password, its a software made to connect you with your phone contacts, you cannot start a conversation with someone not on your contact list, in other words, a whatsapp account cannot be used on more than one unit
you can't use 1 number for 2 whatsapp users
i used my phone to get the verification code and put it on pc
Did you use the Android version of whatsapp? Or ipod touch? What about the blackberry version? Please tell us how you made it work.
First pc client for whatsapp , product of lebgeeks, congratulations !
android version of course, ios things didnt work at all, there must be a different emulator for ios. its simple install emulator download whatsapp for andoid
2 months later
so hey guys, it is the same subject again, whatsapp via pc, but now i came up with an idea when i saw the iphone app " treason sms " which connects to the computer via wifi, and sends sms messages right from your pc to any contact of yours.
so i thought, can we do the same thing for whatsapp messages? like connect the phone to the pc via wifi and start chatting from the computer, or the same can be done for BBM?
if any programmer can help me develop that idea, thanks in advance!
I think even if you installed whatsapp on your PC , You will have some problems
i got an ipad 2 and installed whatsapp on it ( sure my ipad is jailbroken ) and i have whatsapp installed on my iphone too ,when you send the verification from the ipad and eneter it there youll notice when you open whatsapp on your phone you will need to register again ,so for me its kind of annoying and.that will happen if you use your PC :) and I think your idea is good , but I a noob in programing and i dont know if a programmer can mess up with BBM to add new features or with whatsapp also because they application are owned by BlackBerry and the Whatsapp team ;)
even though he did that would take a lot a hard work
