  • svchost.exe (netsvcs) constantly downloading

hi i have windows 7 home edition original copy installed on hp pavilion dv6, i have mobi idm as an internet provider, recently i noticed that my connection is active even when im not browsing or downloading. i stopped windows update and every other program update and still in resource monitor i get svchost.exe (netsvcs) downloading. It is consuming my connection, for instance today i had 250 mb downloaded in 3 h out of the shitty 2 gb per month mobi gives you! it is driving me crazy, please help.
I have the same problem but it is not as dramatic as in your case. svchost.exe downloads around 23-25MB per day (I do not know what's being downloaded). The only way to prevent that from happening is to block all the IP addresses the download is coming from (outbound stream).

I have Kaspersky installed on my machine which makes it easy to monitor the the IP addresses and makes it even easier to block them.
Start->Run
services.msc
(hit enter)
Find in the list "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" and disable it (put it into "disabled" mode, otherwise it might start alone, even if in "manual" mode).

I'm not sure it will help, and I only tested it in XP, but worth a shot. It helped me in a similar situation.

Found it! Here's the description of this service:
Transfers files in the background using idle network bandwidth. If the service is disabled, then any applications that depend on BITS, such as Windows Update or MSN Explorer, will be unable to automatically download programs and other information.
Seems like what is eating up our bandwidth! I set it to Disabled now. Hopefully that will sort out this NIGHTMARE!

Thanks rolf :)
No problem :)
Hope it'll work.
Thx rolf! this seems to be the one eating up my dowload, when i stop it the downloading stops but the problem is the service is restarting on its own even after setting it to disabled and the downloading resumes! what is this thing?

<admin edit: no need for half a dozen exclamation marks>
I had that problem
I solved it .
I just deleted BITS.
Now i can't even download windows updates xD.
But hey... at least my connection isn't being r@ped
i'm just sayin...
