now i will try to objective as much as i can... I followed the live blog of WWDC today and apple unveiled some interesting things such as: iOS 5, iCloud, OSX 10.7.
now lets begin with the good part: OSX 10.7 is good improvements over snow leopard and brings some enchantments to OSX, also the price is very good at 30$.
iCloud: interesting concept, i always been fan of cloud based computing/ storage its great idea, you just need fast internet and you can forget all about how much free space you got on your device.
now for the bad part.... iOS 5, for starters when apple said "2011 is the year of the copycats" they were not wrong, and the biggest copycat here is apple.
first notifications system is the exact same used by android, and when i say the exact i mean 100% is the same one used by google in their android os, and apple will claim that they reinvented notifications system. i wouldn't be surprised if they sued google for copying them.
second is the iMessage, a BBM for iOS devices, uses the same method of BBM, no cross platform...
third is wireless sync, something that android and webos are famous for, no need for wires, every thing syncs with the cloud.
now i dont have a problem with apple copying other operating systems, but why do they go nuts others tries to copy them, and the funny thing is apple would go and tell the world they reinvented notifications, instant messaging, wireless sync and Sue others for copying them.

Unfortunately, that's the way it is. For the notifications, they copied Android's swipe down gesture. However, Android does not implement the lock screen feature where you can view the recent notifications and act directly on them (some may argue that Apple "stole" this idea from Jailbreak developers). But yeah, I hate it when Apple then comes out and says that they invented this "revolutionary" idea. They basically took an already functioning idea (Android's notification system) and improved upon it.
Though you do have to give them credit for iCloud. They actually came up with ideas nobody has implemented yet. Also, the the way iTunes integrates into the cloud is pretty smart and much better than the alternatives.

Yes iCloud is good, but totally irrelevant in Lebanon. And forget about downloading the 4GB Lion upgrade from the Mac App store. Good thing I'm travelling outside the country in July. I wasn't planning on bringing my MBP but now I guess I'm gonna have to.

As an iOS user, I pretty excited with the additions iOS 5 brings to the table.
Notifications: Its true they copied Android but as Ziad said, they did add the ability to interact with them at the lock screen without unlocking the device which is pretty helpful. And would so many OSes currently on the market, it is bound that OSes will become ever so similar regarding certain features and functionalities.
iMessage: I can't understand why did they come up with such a thing especially that it doesn't have any new features. As it is now, its useless.
Wireless sync: at last they implemented it. Took them ages though :)
iCloud: LOL at the idea in Lebanon. With our current DSL/Cellular data plans, this option is useless. In addition, you may end up paying more at the end of the month for overusage.
The one thing that came to my mind during the conference was how everything is moving into digital. If in Lebanon we don't improve our internet situation over here, we're going to lag big time. iCloud, Mac OS X Lion, everything is moving more and more to digital. Unfortunately, Lebanon is at the bottom of the list.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. Hopefully the pulling/pushing from/to the cloud can be tweaked in every single possible way. Otherwise, we would reach our download quotas in a matter of days.
