Hey everyone. I have 256K Sodetel DSL 3up /3 down and i should be paying 25$. The bill is reaching 78$ sometimes because of updates or stuff i don't know about . I want to end this thing ! I need a software which can always observe the downloads (quota) taken from my internet. I mean if a program updates itself without being shown on the Desktop to be seen on this software.
Thanks.
Look for DU Meter. Its has a graph showing you current bandwidth consumed and totals and reports for hourly/daily/monthly uses. Does the job for me.

EDIT: it's actually payware, lets you try it for a month for free, but you can easily find it on TPB (or whatever ur favorite site is...). U can download Netmeter if you're not a pirate ;)
You can usehttp://dslinfo.sodetel.net.lb/,there's a panel there you can use it to see the download/upload activity but the sad part is that this panel updates once every 24 hours , but still it's a good way to see if someone is using your wifi without your knowledge (78$ is too much!!)

You can also check your antivirus and windows update or other software if they have automatic updates switched on.

Hope I helped !

Each day im entering this link to see my downloads and uploads. Yes, i am paying 78$ and my dad mentioning he'd stop it if it continues like that.
I download now DU METER and im observing my downloads and uploads quite accurately.
You can also setup a firewall. That's what I did and my monthly quota is exactly what I expect it to be.

If you are using Windows 7 it has a good built-in firewall. If not, then I recommend Zone Alarm as it's easy to setup or Comodo firewall which might be a bit harder to configure.

The trick would be to block all outgoing and incoming requests except those you want (i.e. a game, HTTP, MSN, etc...) but I am guessing that would require a lot of technical know-how that would make it a tedious task.

The thing is, if you can do that then you will be sure no unknown software is actually using your internet connection.
Or you can simply switch off your Router when not using internet! (:
4 days later
DU meter only measures network activity at your PC ..

Open your modem/router (whatever your using) and check your DHCP, or client list, you can see how many people (if any) are connected etc etc. and thus conclude if anyone i stealing from you

once you can confirm this, we can be sure what we do next.
take more advantage from the unlimited night traffic plan (if you have it)

you see what they do is they say its not available where you live or they are out of unlimited accounts, if you argue with them A LOT, they just say ok we will make it work and you get unlimited, they don't give it to you unless you argue, they fooled me by saying they are out of unlimited accounts
Actually , we were going to switch to 256kbps unlimited but the operator over there told us that the internet would be very very slow and it is much better having normal 256kbps.. Is this true or not ?
it is true if its unlimited 24/7 because everyone would be downloading lots, but if its just for the night, after 11pm it should be fine

no it is not a joke, I have downloaded last month about 25GB and did not pass my 4GB monthly limit.
