Cheap phone replacement

My Sony Erricson k850i is not working no more (water), the soft buttons are not working and no speakers working either. Anyway, I am wondering what you'd recommend as a cheap replacement until I get an IPhone or some other high end phone.

Get a cheap Nokia.
They've got a dozen years of industrial design behind them.
Who knows, you might realize you don't even need a smart phone.

Well when 3G is activated, a smart phone will be a must have. But yeah for now go with a basic nokia phone. See if you can find a Nokia 6080.

My god man don't be that cheap but I suggest you go to any phone shop let him show you what he has in your budget and buy it

nokia C3 is ~100 USD now but I'd expect it drop a lot in price considering it is a 2G phone. I'll probably go down to 80 USD soon.

dude get a mini curve or a bold 9000 there like 100-150$ now and they are great for texting.

Guys most are missing the point, this is intended as a TEMP phone, one which I am gonna thow/give away once I get another higher end phone. Thanks for pitching in nevertheless, I finally got the nokia 1280 http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_1280-3008.php which is a minimal functionality phone, I paid 40,000 L.L (about 27$) and 5,000 L.L. for a plug adapter for the charger (go figure, 8th the price of the phone). If you find that funny, get this, once I got this new phone home, and plugged the old one to the PC (USB cable) in order to retrieve my data, it now suddenly works again!!! After I stripped it (I almost reached its CPU ;)), shook, banged, and blew on it, it now works on its own, thus the new phone is not needed no more.
I will test this situation for a few days, but I guess I don't need the new backup phone no more (anyone interested? :P)

A smartphone without 3G is like a PC without internet. You get the idea, but you're not experiencing the fun.

I think you're making the right decision by sticking to a "low-end" phone for now. Once 3G is avialable in Lebanon (shouldn't be long) you'll buy a cool phone.

I have had my share of low end phones. I've tried Motorolla, Samsung, LG, Sagem, Nokia, Sony Ericsson ... Despite a very long run with Motorolla, I still tell you: the best phones are made by Nokia. No question.
