rolf I have an iphone 3G, and the glass broke! It fell from about 80cm to the ground, flat on it's glass, on a rough cement/stone surface. The glass was shattered but all pieces stayed in place. So I covered it with plastic tape to keep them in place, since the touch screen was still working - and it still works! It just look quite sad... Anyway for all of you who have an iphone (expect the ones fitted with Gorilla Glass), I recommend you to cover the glass with some kind of transparent protective film.
haidcar no iphone has gorilla glass and the protective film will only protect against scratches and wont do anything against drops for that you need a rubber case to absorb the impact
rolf Thanks for the number! I thought iphone 4 had gorilla glass or reinforced glass. I think a somewhat thick film would gavd protected it... Not in extreme falls of course...
haidcar iphone 4 is the most fragile iphone ever made, its got glass back as well. as for the protective film it will only protect against scratches you need a proper case.
Bij On Tuesday my iPhone 4 slipped from me three times, highest fall was about 1 meter. All these times I thought "this is the end of my phone". It fell right on its face. Not a scratch. I don't know how you call this fragile... Did you see one being broken ? Did you break one ? You just heard someone else saying it's a fragile phone because it has glass back ? There are many things one can criticize about the iPhone 4, but fragility is not one of them. And it's certainly not "the most fragile ever".
haidcar well my friend broke hisiphone 4 after only 3 months from buying it, it fell from him in parking lot and the glass back was shatred and the the hight was not more then 1 m from his pocket to the ground and this not the only case just google iphone 4 drop test and see your self. this is just one example of many http://gizmodo.com/5571658/first-iphone-4-broken-after-one+foot-drop (pro apple blog)
samer http://gizmodo.com/5571658/first-iphone … +foot-drop (pro apple blog) Gizmodo is a pro-Apple blog? Um… about that.
Bij Well I guess am lucky then ^^ Or maybe the front is stronger then the back, all my falls have been on the front, on hard floor. Maybe apple takes a shortcut and relies on back covers so they used cheaper glass.
