Hey there!

Recently i purchased htc desire..it came with the froyo 2.2

At first everything was going great, but then i started facing some issues, which are really pissing me off...not worth the money!

1- from time to time the screen freezes.
2- reboots on its own.

3- can not synchronize facebook with the contacts. It gives me connection error, even tough friends stream works fine, and my contact card in the people is updated.

4- when i get a call from my contacts saved with the country's code number i.e 961, it gives me the name, but when the same contact sends me a text, it shows the number and vice versa.

so i contacted HTC, their solutions didn't help at all.

I thought about rebooting the phone, but im afraid, something might go wrong.

so now im thinking about changing to DESIRE S.

What you guys think?
Any solutions for the problems?
And is worth paying for DESIRE S?

Thanks!

There is a number of things that might help:
-Get the latest updates from HTC, or any good ROM. Should fix random reboots and screen freezes. I think Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" is available for the Desire.
-Nothing "Wrong" will happen if you reboot, maybe it will help.
-You might be able to exchange the phone if you purchased it recently.

The best and last way to find a solution: Look around the internet, post on android forums...
you can fix all your problems by doing a software update it can be done OTA go to setting /about /software update and try look for an update. or you can put a custom rom instead of stock one you got example cyanogenmod 7. no need for a desire s
The Gingerbread will be available for the Desire by the end of the month...but i think it will take longer for it to reach lebanon.

I tried to look for an update, non available.

I wana try Rooting , and put a custom ROM, I checked some articles in XVID-DEVELOPERS forums, seems complicated. Too many data for a newbie for an android .

My brother got an HTC Desire and he is constantly suffering from the low internal memory the Desire got. Did any of you find a practical solution for that?
The original ROM came with Moazin app pre-installed which eats up the memory and keeps showing reminders. What Original ROM do you recommend installing that is Arabic enabled and does not have such apps.
Root your phone and install MIUI rom ;)
Are there solutions other than rooting?

Same probelm with me...it woke me up for like 4 days everyday at 5 P.M!! before i knew how to silent it.

Anys i still have the same probelms...and the only choices are either to root , or wait for the 2.3 Gingerbread update..

I also have the same problem as aboujrej but i am confused if i root it and put LEEdroid rom on my Desire since i saw that it frees for me 300mb of internal storage. Can anyone here root my phone for a low price ?
have anyone tried force closing the Moazin app by going to Settings->applications->manage apps->"all" tab, then search for it,click on it,force close (or uninstall if available) it should stop sending notifications and free your RAM again.
This might be completly irrelevant, but I'm surprise an HTC product has so many problems with so many people, I got the HTC Desire HD and I honestly can't say anything bad about it !
any how i googeled some of your problems and it looks like the next update will remove those apps and fix the freezing and reboots.the calls things seems weird never heard of something like that, have you tried adding "+" like +96170****** instead of 96170******
Can anyone help me with putting LeeDroid on my Desire?
I installed the official 2.3 update for HTC Desire which does let you free in the end with around 120 mb and which deletes AL Moazin and other religious applications.

LeeDroid is a ROM you need an unlocked bootloader and root access to flash it,if you are already rooted you will find lots of tutorials online.
I saw the tutorials but i can't understand i thing. Can anyone do it for me ? Rooting and flashing LeeDroid ?
I have an issue with Galaxy S2, wifi receptions seems to be poor.
Anyone has the same issue? and how did you fix it? I noticed that if you should remove your hand from the back of the phone the reception would be better, meaning you should hold it from the upper or lower side, apparently the wifi receptor is on the phone's back. It's better, but still poor.

I have the same issue with the Desire HD but only when my reception is very poor (1 bar) and I hold it from the back the reception gets cut off, but it doesnt seem to affect me when my reception is abit better.
Does doing partition sd card need a custom firmware or can it work on official firmware 2.3 with root done? Thanks. I found an app called Link2sd which does that but i dont know how to do it !
Update on Moazzin reminder issue:
- Android 2.3 is now available with NO Arabic support.

Update on Low memory issue:
- I have tried different things and the only solution for now is to install App2SD and move "everything" to your SD. Besides that, rooting is your only resort.

To the ones who have doubts about HTC, the only issue they are facing is with the Internal memory of the HTC Desire. The newer and upcoming models have better (though not fancy) internal memory storage. If you keep up a reasonable amount of applications/games you'd be fine. You do not need 20+ games installed at once. Also, we do forget to uninstall most of the apps that we never use.
