Password Locked Wireless Modem

My cousin bought a new wireless modem today from Terranet, it was already configured by them to work and all. So he got home and hooked it up and everything worked fine, BUT it has been locked by a password from Terranet so he cannot access it from his browser using the usual 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin.

He called them and they said it is a new policy that they lock the modems so people cannot mess around with them or "hacking and stuff", lame excuse. Hard-resetting the modem also doesn't work, they obviously has put their own costume firmware on it.

So can anyone help with info regarding this issue, or a program or anything that could help for recovering the password or something.

oh, and he also called them and asked them if they could remove the costume firmware and their password, they said they could do that but then it won't be supported and they can't help him if he ever calls in need for support.

BTW it's called a custom, not costume firmware :-D

Well you can Bruteforce the password. But it will take a lot of time if the pass is >8 characters + the use of capital letters.
Give me you modem model number to check if it can be exploited or not.

I think some hard reset can be done on some modems that involves Soldering, but it depends on the modem's model, but make sure that you have the pppoe username and password before you attempt to do anything with the modem.
