Which New Generation Console?

hi people.

Ok, I know this is going to sound old and cliche, but I need some human feedback regarding which new generation console I should upgrade to this summer.

x-box or ps3?

I've been playing a ps2 for 11 years now, so I'm a bit tempted to go for a ps3. I'm trying to base my decision on the game criteria that has,is, and most likely to be found on each console.

Graphics is not on the top of my list. Storyline and Gameplay are. The genre of the game is important to me as well.
Prefered Genre: RPG's of all kinds - Random Variables like ICO and The Darkest Faerie

I've googled this issue, but I SERIOUSLY doubt that a regular person will know what the specs on each console specialize in delivering in terms of performance, maintenance, and gaming experience. Also, with both Sony and Microsoft constantly updating their consoles and machine specs every few weeks, I'ts hard for a person to PREDICT which will be a more worthwhile investment.

So here I am asking the LebaneseGeeks.

is playing online important to you? if so get a ps3 if not go for the xbox, also note that you have to pay ~60$ for each game of the ps3....
as for graphics there both the same, since console games run at a resolution of 720p (1280x720)

cant say more since I'm a pc gamer!

Go for the PS3 if you really care about online play. Personally, online play is fun and does extend the playability of many games. Granted, our internet connection in Lebanon is horrendous but nevertheless, you will get to play some decent online matches. In addition, there is a huge lebanese online community so you can play with them. However, you will have to pay upward of 70 USD for each game (which I don't consider a negative since you'll be supporting the developer).

Go for the X360 if you don't care much about online play. Its not that the X360 online capabilities are bad, its because you can't find original games in this country and if you go online using a pirated or modded console, you'll highly risk your console being banned and the only way to fix this is by buying a new console again. There are places that sell original games but their stock is usually very old and usually they don't restock new games.

In terms of games, they're practically the same. Graphics, gameplay, variety of games. They're all the same. Prices are the same too more or less.

That's true. The Xbox controller is better overall. But the PS3's is way better in fighting games.

I really liked Halo's story but I wouldn't base my decision on buying a console on one game only.

what about GT5, a PS3 exclusive game.

PS3 is to GT5 as XBox is to Halo :P

Couple of problems though:
* Euro is insanely expensive right now. New games sell at 60 euros that's almost 90$.
* They're ... in French. Real buzz-kill. :P

PS3. playing with people really beats playing against AI .

Now all I need is a job, lol.

This doesnt work in my world because my hands are small (like Japanese) so X360's controller is huge for me cant take the grip on it 100%.

The first and foremost reason to buy a PS3, is for Metal Gear Solid IV.

If you like story, that's the game for you.

I say if he wants to get original games on the 360, then Xbox Live is really a good feature. Ok yeah you have to pay 50$ a year but you are paying for a network that doesn't crash, that always has people online.
