  • Having problems installing older version of MSN

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a tough time with this...

Yesterday my friend "accidentally" installed the newest version of WLM on my laptop, replacing the version which I love(14.0.8117.416) to the current version(which I do not like). I have the offline installer for the the version which I want, but I'm having a bit of trouble installing it. I get the error message "Couldn't install programs: you already have a more recent version of Windows live". Can anyone help me get through this error.. I miss the old interface :(

Any assistance shall be greatly appreciated :)

Best regards,
Raficoo.
Simply try uninstalling all components of the new version which you do not like and then install WLM using the offline setup you have :)

that's what I did, still same ;_;
thx, but this is for disabling the "newer version available" message, so won't help me in this case :(

hmm what if I do a system restore to yesterday, you guys think that would work?
ok bro there you go. You go to C:\Program Files\Common Files-----> then you search for msn messenger or windows live messenger folder and you delete it manually. Then you retry installing the older version of msn. This will work. Good luck, and tell me if it didn't work :)

but there's still a little tiny problem... look

you need the windows 7 manager if you're using wondows 7 as an OS. look, if you don't have it, i can give it to you. Just get me a USB flash drive. Where can i see you?

a month later
well if you did uninstall it and asks you to download the newer version while signing in(which will sooner or later), right click on WLM press open file location, now right click on file and go to properties and select use compatibly mode of windows 2000 (or older if that doesn't work)
