hi people

I've had some issues, or rather, no issues when I SHOULD have had them, regarding recent AMD drivers for graphics cards.

This is what I do:

1 - Go to http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx

2 - Download the latest version of ATI Radeon graphics driver package for Windows 7 64-bit

3 - Wait for the download to end. Run. Wait for extraction to finish. Install.

Well, after installation is complete, or so the computer says it is, I go do a test.

On version 10.8 of AMD's graphics driver packages, Final Fantasy 14 booted normally and patched.

I uninstalled 10.8 to install 11.3

After installation of 11.3 completed, I opened Final Fantasy 14. It crashed, the exact problem I had BEFORE installing version 10.8

And, after installing 10.8 and rebooting, a small ATI Radeon icon appeared in my task bar. After that icon appeared, Final Fantasy 14 began to work.

Now, I uninstalled 10.8 to install 11.3, but an icon of ATI Radeon hasn't appeared.

I uninstalled and reinstalled for 7 times, but to no avail, the icon did not show up, and still the system says that everything is up-to-date in the device manager.

Any solutions?

It could be that I'm not knowing how to install properly. Someone help, please.

Thanks.

Which video card do you have?

Look for the 11.4 Preview drivers as they have fixed many many problems.
Video Card : ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5600/5700 series.

Driver Version : 8.762.0.0

I think that thise 8.762.0.0 should change when a new graphics driver is installed.

Is this true?
ATI/AMD makes the worse drivers, make me want to join the Nvidia bandwagon - which I will.

Anyway about your problem, this little icon in the taskbar is the Catalyst Control Center, you said it woked once it showed up there, I say, install the most recent driver, including the CCC (Catalyst Control Center). And once you restart, right click on your Desktop and access it if it didnt show on your bar down below.

PS. this FF14 is still free-to-play? I heard its a pathetic excuse of an MMO.
FF 14 was never free-to-play to begin with. As for a pathetic excuse of an MMO, I wouldn't know. I've been trying everything in my power to play the game, but Lebanese credit cards are not accepted. If you do happen to play it, even if once, let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the advice.

I downloaded and ran the individual installation of 11.3 CCC.

When you get to the green bars in the installation, all you get is that its installing the Installer Manager, not the Catalyst Control Center. I mean, come on, the installation of a CCC takes more than just a few seconds. And now it gives me : "An unknown error has occured. Exit and restart Catalyst Installer Manager" >.<
