Blackmailed . . . HELP

Hey guys, i would like to get straight to the point because it's urgent, one of my close friends is been blackmailed on her cellphone, is there any way to know the ID of the "prick" without going to the authorities , cause i heard it would take a long investigation and things could get "messy".
Any help is appreciated my fellow "geeks". Thank you

I think the number is searched here not the passport ID........Look usually it works that way the message is being sent to a server which covers then the number if you made that setting in your phone. SOLUTION : Call your carrier and ask them which Id has sent the message all you need is the exact time. I did that before and it worked so just try and hope that they store Messages at least a week. Then Go to some cops with the ID and let them work .

Why is it so urgent if a life is threatened go to the police !!!.

Thank you guys for the quick replies, looks like i wasn't clear enough,what i meant by "ID" is the name of the person because i do have his phone number, as for the the blackmails,it contains insults and swearing (sms).
if anyone can use the phone number to get to the id i will pm it right away.

If it's 03... then send it to me. I have the pre-2009 database so if you was lucky enough i can get it. (hopefully it isn't a prepaid line too since buying one usually does not need an ID)

The 2010 (or is it 2011?) database is available on IPhones... I don't have it, though i'm sure some members do!

Simply ignore it. Don't read text messages or reply to phone calls from numbers you don't recognize.

Easy to say that hussam, but what if your sister or mother were the blackmailed ones , and recieved sms full of swearing all day long , would you still "simply" ignore it ?

You have two options:
1. Report the incident to the official parties (IT department in the General Security Forces)
2. Throw away the number and buy a new pre-paid one.

I suppose not. Looks it is getting overly annoying.
One last question..Is it harrassement or is there actual blackmail as in "if you don't do XZY, I will hurt you". Either way, do as Kassem said and report it.
