hello, i would like to know if its possible to change the Mac address of an iphone 4 which is not jailbroken... I need it so i can use internet in my university since they only give access to computers and doesn't allow phones to connect to their wifi

Nop you can't spoof/change mac address without jailbreaking.
Why don't you jailbreak your iphone ?

They do not allow cell phones to use the WiFi at my university. That's why I need to use the same MAC adress as my laptop.

Your using your iphone without jailbreaking that means it's factory unlocked.
If you're on:
4.1 download Limerain
4.2.1 download Greenpois0n
4.3.1 download Redsn0w (latest version)
After jailbreaking, you can spoof your mac address in different ways, using Terminal or an application in Cydia.

do i need to do anything incase my jailbreak fails? so i can restore my phone properly before trying the jailbreak last time itunes forced me to download latest update to restore my phone

Spoof the MAC address of your laptop to be the same of you iPhone, then ask your university to allow that laptop to connect to the access point... now you can use both your laptop and iPhone (but not at the same time).

I know but i gotta jailbreak first and it's failing everytime. Maybe i should update to 4.3 then jailbreak anyway thanks for help everyone

It should work fine, you can jailbreak normally with 4.2.1. it's not necessary to update. Can you post the error you're getting.

Did you Run Greenpois0n as administrator ? And did you enter DFU mode when they tell what to hold ?
I don't see a reason to fail, The problem is from you not from Greenpois0n.
Btw did you download Greenpois0n from their website ? or from another website mirror ? Because there's 2 versions of GP, first one is based on limera1n exploit for 4.1, and the second one for 4.2.1.

i downloaded it from greenpoi0son.com iam sure its the correct version and i got my phone to DFU mode anyway thanks for your help ill just take my phone to a store to unlock it, and i will tell him what happened to me because iam sure he will face the same problem as me lol
