I have a french (Orange) phone line on my blackberry. I would sometimes get a 3G signal, internet works intermittently, but I still managed to receive a few emails.

In other words, it worked but is highly unreliable yet.

The access to 3G network is granted on the subscriber level, which means your number needs to be allowed to use 3G network in order to test it. So far only 3G testers have access to it.

Any idea if 3G will be available for prepaid plans too (magic....)?

3G is going to be for everyone.. I'm sure they'll add new plans (they have to eventually) but WORST CASE, wap will be fast on 3G.

My dad met some guys from Alfa today. They were on their way to Akkar to install some 3G related equipment. Apparently, the work on 3G is not focused on Beirut alone, which is a good thing.

Was anyone contacted yet to switch their SIM Cards in order to start testing the 3G Network?
To my understanding, the target date to start the testing (15 Sep.) might be delayed by a week or two.
I have recently experienced frequent signal outage in Beirut and other areas as well. This means that the network upgrade is taking a fast pace.

A tiny question( out of subject but i have to ask it ) are you used to buying things from amazon? And is it safe, and the item gets delivered on time with the box still sealed? Thanks in advance

Yesi buy things things from amazon but they cost $$ for extra charges + shipping, usually it gets delivered on time but i dont mind if they take extra time to be delivered, and ofcourse the items are sealed quite well, i use aramex to ship them, but this item(the phone) im not buying it from aramex i got a great deal for 100$ to buy it and not sure if im going to take the risk.

Khalil dont buy the phone unless you have someone to bring it to you , if you buy and and ship it it will be held at the customs by the ministry of telecommunication it happened to me before even if you use aramex shop and ship service . Plus from my experience with both international normal shipping and afamex shop and ship it will turn from a good deal on stuff to a total rip off especially with the Vat of 10% and customs of 5% and aramex charges . I once bought 3d glasses for 30 $ it was a great deal on amazon . I shipped it with aramex it cost me 16$ plus the customs when they knew they were glasses estimated them to 400$ so i paid 15%=60$ plus 6.66 $ (10000LBP) custom file cost. Bottom line a deal of 30$ end up costing me 126 $ .

By the way any news about the 3g guys .
