Speed test on alfa's 3G in jbeil. to be fair the signal kept on switching between 3G and HSPA during the upload.

i still couldn't subscribe to a bundle i just activated the pay as you go to check it out 3$ for 2 speed test!

Same Error here, (Prepaid user with wap subscription on iPhone). I cancelled the wap, and called Alfa, they said the wap subscription should end until you can subscribe to 3G. (Sadly it ends on 20th of the next month)

Can someone advise? can we use other settings and automatically convert to 3G?

Edit: Btw the operator said that in order to cancel wap i should convert to waffir...lol?

You can disable wap via their internet website, though do they propose now 3G for prepaid lines?

Actually you can disable the subscription (meaning that it won't renew for the next month), there are 3G plans for prepaid lines, they are the same as postpaid.
The solution proposed in my case was to subscribe to Pay as you go until wap is disabled (then i can subscribe to regular 3G plans). i have 3G internet now, but it's expensive: 0.5$/1MB.

Yeah 100mb for 10$ is too poor, Lebanese will stay lebanese whatever the color they dress ;)
Btw I am pretty sure alfa is not respecting the $/min they posted, I talk very few on my cell and they charge 25$ every 2 weeks, I noticed that for the past year...damn country!

How much do you want? 5$ with 5GB limit? When I lived in canada the 500MB plan was 25$ and 150MB for 15$. It's actually cheaper here.

You were in Canada 5 years ago?
3G+ 250mb = 10$
So it's 2.5x more mb for the same price compared to Lebanon

So in other words i have BBM , getting a 3G signal and using it, paying 27$ for 200mb when 3G is at 19$ 500MB ?

You should know that you are buying a service called BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) this is a relation between your provider and RIM, and if you try it you will feel and touch the difference, you will open files and data more than 500 MB over this service due to a compression used by blackberry.

you don't have to risk anything
you can activate Pay as You Go service
and pay 0.5$ on each MB (that's what I'm subscribed to)

pay as you go is very expansive i activated it just to try it 2 days ago and things didnt go that well, speed was really good almost 5mbps but i did 2 speed test i spent around 8mb=4$. now the 10$ offer is basically risk free you get 100mb to use, and if you are not in 3G area it will switch to Edge so you still get internet, and if you finish the 100mb before the 1 month (which you will) you still can have internet at 0.1$ per MB (80% cheaper then the pay as you go)

I subscribed to Pay as you go,and i can see the 3G sign but there is no connection to the internet could anyone post the APN setting i think there is something wrong with my settings.
