xterm wroteSide question: how good is 3G or cellular data concerning latency?
In my experience, the latency is relatively high, can even make VOIP a bad experience, with a huge round-trip. My experience is limited though, it might have been a problem in the software, the phone, or even an artificial limitation put in place by the provider to discourage VOIP.
haidcar wroteits true latency wise 3G is not that good, but for sure it is going to be better then current DSL we have.
Why would it be?? The latency we have is most probably from the backbone link, in which case the 3G latency will surely be higher. Besides, if they can't get DSL right, then why would they get 3G right?
What is it with people on this forum who expect 3G to be better then DSL?? DSL is a
cable technology. Nothing beats cable. Nothing! In the other thread there was someone who thought of 3G as a replacement for DSL. It's not! It was never meant to, will never be, and will probably cost 3 the price of DSL when they start offering it.
