So i was finally able to get my hands on the Official Playstation Move Sharp Shooter, it is now available at Sony World in Downtown Beirut.
(Note: the main game I am basing my review on using the sharp shooter is Killzone3, though i did use it with a couple more).
1st impression: it's bloody expensive, though it's a fine piece of equipment for PS Move fans, but 62$ is a heavy price for it, I would have thought 40$ max, but you know how things are in Lebanon.
Anyways, as far as practicality and effectiveness it's pretty good, I'll stay objective and avoid words like awesome and cool, but the Sharp Shooter is awesome and cool!
The sharp shooter isn't just a plastic shape to fit the Move in, the Move is inserted and plugged into it through a mini usb built inside. The Navigator is inserted below the Move but it's not plugged into anything. It doesn't use batteries, it takes it's power from the Move itself. The sharp shooter has retractable shoulder handle in the back, and it's has quite a sturdy grip from the front when holding the navigator.
The different buttons are conveniently placed on the sharp shooter, directly below the trigger there's the Move button which is also kind of a trigger, and above it there's two buttons the square and triangle, and they're also found symmetrically on the other side for the comfort of Lefty's. There's also a switch for automatic and semi-automatic firing modes and a lock switch to lock the automatic switch and the Move trigger. but really the coolest move the sharp shooter pulls is Reloading, while you can reload using the normal mapped buttons or gestures of the game, you can also reload by pulling the Navigator grip to the back just like you reload a pump-action shotgun.
While the PS Move is known for it's ease of use and precision, the doesn't mean you'll own the game right away, this will need time getting used to, but it definitely feels more natural to use the sharp shooter with the Move, so it will depend on how familiar you are with the Move and the Navigator. I am pretty good myself with the Move so I kicked off easily, and if you haven't experienced how easy the aiming is with the Move, trust me, it's so easy it makes Sniping in Killzone look like a duck hunt game on nintendo.
That's it i guess, now I can't wait for Socom4.
For the multiplayer part, it still functions the same, but since multiplayer is a very competetive zone you better be well used to using the sharp shooter cause most others will probably be using the normal controller and they will slaughter you if you're not good, but hey, i was able to get 3rd place in my 1st match. and NO, i don't stand around moving my hands across the room, you just need to know how to setup your pseye well and you can sit down and play the same way you always do (but of course not lying down on a couch).
I wanted to add this last part, cause i've been reading around the web and some people are comparing the Move to the Mouse. What i would like to comment on is that while the Move is really precise but it's not as good as a mouse; BUT note that it isn't as good not because it's less precise or lags or anything cause it doesn't, but it's due to the simple fact that you hold it in the air with your hand, and your hand is the part that isn't steady while holding it in the air, while the mouse is very steady cause your not holding it in the air, but it's on a stable platform all the time.
