I don't see why they sent it by paper mail, though.
Slicehost and Linode do it electronically (along with every other VPS provider I know of).
What made you go with Hosteurope?
They have a lower ping then most other hosts (I'm getting 125ms!).
At first they seem a bit expensive but when you look at the specs (for example 1GB ram) they're not that expensive. And they look serious.
They are CO2 neutral and... they're German! On top of some personal reasons for choosing a German host that also means they abide to German Law, which is a good thing I think.
I did not expect them to send the code by paper mail. I assume they do that to have your real address, as a precaution against anyone who is planning to do illegal stuff on their servers. I only knew that after I registered, but I got it in less then 2 weeks so it's not so bad. It's pretty cool to receive a paper for a change actually.
Most of their paperwork is in German. They send an English translation of the most important mail that you receive. But the control panel is in German. For me it's good it's a little practice. For anyone wanting to set up an account there, they can manage it with a bit of assistance at the beginning, the control panel is simple, with only the necessary stuff (format to new image, reboot, etc..) and the rest happens from the console. I may be able to help if anyone is interested.
I'm not sure I need a VPS, but I wanted to try out some newer server-side technologies, like MongoDB.
