Hey, I'm new here...
I'm a hardcore MK fan, and the new MK game is coming out next month. I'll be getting it from Russia (Kollector's Edition) since it's not available in Lebanon. The creators of the game said that tons of stuff will be DLC.
We got a solid confirmation that one of the classic characters of the MK1-3 era, Rain, will be DLC. He's one of my favorites, so i was wondering if there's a way to buy him once he's out. I'm sort of a "n00b" when it comes to DLCs and all that.
I wanted to ask if i get the game from Russia (Europe), once DLCs start coming out, can i get them from the European PS store?
If not, what can i do in order to get the needed DLCs?
Thanks in advance!

if the DLC will be offered on the EU PSN store then yeah you can buy it off there
be careful as DLC is region locked - usually the UAE store updates with the EU store
consult blog.eu.playstation.com - and click on game store updates on the right
Usually it tells which locals the DLC is available (when it becomes so)
-now you can either use a valid CC number on the EU store or just use the UAE PSN cards you can find at Sony World and/or Virgin Megastores
- slight note, things on the UAE store can be slightly more expensive, ranging from 2-5$ more.
also if your main account isn't a UAE or EU, you can make another on user on the XMB, sign up to psn, buy from the store of that user, and after downloading and installing it will work for all users on that PS3, so yeah
two things to just keep in mind:
1. Region locking of DLC
2. Price.
hope this helped.

Thanks for answering...
So from your answer, I understand that once the DLC is up and if it's region locked, since i bought the game from Europe I will be able to get it from the EU PSN store or from the UAE store via PSN cards (since it's related to the EU store)?
Sry as i said i don't know much about all these DLC things and how they work. :(
Now what I know for sure is that the MK DLC (once it's out) will be available worldwide (except for Australia since the game's banned there). In other words, it's gonna be available on the EU store for 100%.
I don't have an account (yet) so i guess i'll do a UAE or EU one (which one's better to get DLC?).
Price's not really a problem.
So all i have to do is:
1) Make a EU account
2) Wait for the DLC to be out on the EU store
3) Buy it using a Credit Card
Right?
Thanks again for your help!
The-MMMs
considering you have EU CC then it would make sense for you to make a EU account and by the DLC there
i only mentioned UAE and PSN cards just in case you didn't have a and EU CC
yes those steps are right
if you need anything else go ahead and ask :)

Ok, thanks now i'm starting to get it xD
1 more thing though, I can't buy it from the EU store if i have a Lebanese CC right ?
And if the game's banned (for example) in UAE then i can't get the DLC from there at all, right ?

Lebanese CC don't work in the EU store.
Even if the game was banned in the UAE, the DLC somehow always makes it to the UAE store (case in point Dragon Age Origins). Even banned games find their way to the UAE game stores despite the ban.

Thanks elchebib!
So i guess i have no other way than buying the dlc from the UAE store then... But does it matter if i got my game from Russia and not UAE or any other Arabic country?

It depends on the game. Some games require you to purchase the DLC from the same country you purchased the game from. Others do not. That's why you should look at the description of the DLC before purchasing.
However, unfortunately, some game companies are lazy and do not provide any description concerning DLC compatibility and so you may have to run the risk of purchasing incompatible DLCs. That happened to me with Burnout Paradise.

I'm not 'exactly' hijacking this thread, since it deals with material and titles both pertinent to my issue.
First off, when it comes to region locking, everyone's right about the fact that you need to match the game's region to the market's region. It all hinges on the number on the back of the disk's box. A zone 1 game can only get its updates from the US PSN store. A zone 2 game can get its updates from the EU, UK, or even AE store. One of the games I own is Dante's Inferno, and it's zone 3. The only way I could get the Trials of St Lucia DLC was by getting a Hong Kong PSN card online. Back then I even tried downloading it from a different region's store, but it didn't work, which proved the point. That's why I now have an account for every main region, which I use to download for each type of game. Heh, but I only use the one account I have set to Lebanon to actually play. I *want* people to know where I am.
Back to Mortal Kombat, and the main reason I'm here. We now have 3 DLC characters available. Skarlet, Kenshi, and Rain. Just yesterday, I was trying to download all three. Rain and Kenshi worked perfectly, but when I try to download Skarlet, things get odd. Each of the DLC is between 60 and 75Mb. At best, downloading one of those takes 20-30 mins. That's what it did for Rain and Kenshi. But when I try to download Skarlet, the download, while still showing as about 75Mb, is completed in seconds, as if it's just a few Kb. And when the system tried to install it, I get an error, 80029563 to be specific.
This has happened again, on the same day, when I tried to download the expansion arcade pack for Super Street Fighter 4. On the market, the download shows as 1578Mb. But when I run it, I notice it's going way too fast to be normal. Setting it to download in background, I notice its size showing as 97Mb. I let it finish, and I get the same error as with MK when I try to install it.
Has anyone gotten an issue similar to this? I'd appreciate any help on the matter.

This has been happening to me reagardless if it were anything SFIV or MK related (more specifically black ops maps)
Something is going wrong with the download itself, let me guess it installs and at 14% it gives you that error right ?
I have searched high and low and the conclusion:
Something wrong with modem/router, ISP, and connection
My friends on different ISP's with different modems don't ever have issues downloading anything; im also guessing your on a Ogero connection, am i correct ?
The only way around this is downloading from another connection, i find it quite stupid but o well ; also sources suggest tampering with the MTU settings of the PS3, apparently it helps avoid corruption, but gives you much slower downloads
To be quite honest im sick and tired of this issue, i don't buy anything anymore from the store in fear of this happening, i just do the usual game update.

I found a lot of what you said scattered about the net. A lot of people suggested using a different isp. I tried it on a dsl line, and on a wireless modem, though thinking back, as both were sodetel (different accounts, the second one's wins), so an issue with one would be on the other as well.
The thing is why only these two particular items? I downloaded updates for the same game, on the same isp, on the same night, and they worked normally.
I'll be able to try it on a cyberia connection this weekend, and that'll show if it is indeed an isp issue. If it still doesn't work (curse you internet give me Skarlet!!) then I'll try tinkering with the ps3 settings.
The-MMMs
I feel so glad i am not the only one
Remember man, the reason why no problems with game updates is they are NOT downloaded via the PSN store .. rather from of course another server from sony i presume
Also if it helps my friends, with the same content that is corrupting for me, are on an IDM connection. They even downloaded from my own store and still they have NO issues, i can only conclude its certain ISP's and certain content, whatever it is, god knows.
Midnight
Confirmed. Trying out the same downloads on a cyberia connection, and they're working fine. Just out of curiosity, I paused the download, switched to the sodetel line again, and tried resuming. The download reset, and went back to the error. Strangest thing I'd ever seen.
The-MMMs
hey man, please please could you speicfy the modem that was on the cyberia connection and the modem for the sodetel connection
Midnight
I tried two different modems from sodetel. One's your typical phillips wireless router that most people install here, the other's the one that looks like a wisebox, the wireless modem with LEDs on the top. Since both had the same issues, it's not a hardware issue. It's purely on the ISP's side.

Hey guys, this is the only topic i could find that talks about Mortal Kombat 9 Online in Lebanon.. i play it online aswell (with Lag Alllll the time, the main reason why i loose)
Are there any other lebanese mortal kombat 9 online players? if yes.. are you having the same lag in it as me?
I mean my lag is so very bad. i press a button to do a high kick/low kick/high;low punch and while blocking (which is the most important thing) but the action is performing like at least 2-3 seconds after i press the button.which is really bad in this sort of game and could be a very reason for your loss in the match.
By the way i use cable internet (or dial-up/broadband i dont know what its called) and the download speed started to reach 135 kb/sec and its very stable.but yet with that speed the lag is still going.. i mean what more does the game want,135 kb/sec is a lot, its like internet heaven (for lebanese people that is)but still i am having the Lag problems.
Well anyway if there are any online lebanese MK9 players.. i would appreciate it for you to share your online MK9 experience.. and if you would like a 1 on 1 match add me

The-MMMs
you need a DSL connection
cable/broadband has poor QoS
it doesn't matter if you can download at 1mb/s - as long as their is network latency you will lag
Latency and Bandiwdth are two different things.
