Is there such a thing as a USB to power plug connector? Is it safe as well? I have this new cooling pad for my laptop that I want to plug directly into the electrical slot.
What you're looking for is an AC to USB Power Adapter, and they do exist but I don't know where they're sold in Lebanon.

I would suggest just getting a USB hub and plugging the cooling pad into that if your intent is to not waste a USB slot. I hate having to unplug the cooling pad to plug in some other USB device :)

Actually my intent is not to add heating to the laptop. Thanks for the link.
USB power output is regulated at 5 volts with varied current according to laptop.
They do sell devices that convert AC to DC at 5 volts.

Mainly what the device does is step down the AC voltage using a transformer, then its rectified to become DC then its regulated to 5 V.

Whether Chinese or made in USA or whatever. they will all be the same and all will be reliable.

Well, if you had an ipad, you could have used the charger that comes with it. The charger connects to AC, and has a female USB port. You can then connect any device (that can be powered via USB). Visit an Apple store or a Phone store and ask if they sell the charger separately

I already have that for my iPhone.
