I just saw a report on Al-Jadeed TV and they had a report about the ability to access airport cameras using what I think was an IPhone app (not sure). This seems very unlikely since the user also mentioned they had the ability to orient the cam they way they wanted, anyone has any idea about such a thing?
Viewing and controling airport cameras?
Highly improbable...
This can be done for sure (smartphones can do outrageous things these days), but it requires a full knowledge/access to the airport security system - which is highly unlikely to occur.
And i'm not claiming that our airport security system is 100% secure. It contains many weaknesses and can easily be breached (but not to this point).
Finally, this is another reason why i love newTV... They dare to highlight on the most important weaknesses in our country through their strong reports while others simply don't.

But if it is unlikely and they reported it, then this means they are either lying or they were scammed/misinformed. That is not something I appreciate.

I also saw the one where any smartphone user with some app that can access the airports database and check for all incoming and outgoing flights across the world.
I believe this is a public interface that anyone can consume. Not entirely sure.Flakk wroteI also saw the one where any smartphone user with some app that can access the airports database and check for all incoming and outgoing flights across the world.

It's Available on the Application Store, there's more then one. One of them is called FlightTrack Pro costs 4.99$. It's available on Installous for free.Flakk wroteI also saw the one where any smartphone user with some app that can access the airports database and check for all incoming and outgoing flights across the world.
Accessing flight information is no big deal, the thing I am referring to is accessing a live feed of cameras in airports AND the ability to control the camera itself, this is like fiction stuff you see in action/espionage movies.
I saw the two part report and i think it is an app from Iphone's Application Store, which gives access to normal information to anyone who wants to know that arrival and departure details. They also mentioned the ability to "control" the plane's flight plan though they didnt show it so it is probably a marketing phrase to catch us.
The camera thing is something i saw before it is called earthTV.

it's not earthTV nor any application that shows some cams on the streets, no way any country will allow the airport cams be accessed by everyone.. But i think those cameras are IP based cameras, he got access to them.
If i saw the report, i would have knew what this guy did to access them.
EDIT: wait wait wai, WTF !!!! i just watched the video on Aljadeed website, really are you kidding me ? He think he's a hacker lol, he's using an application called LiveCams available at the application store, it costs 1,99$. Sadly most Lebanese people are retarded, it's an IP camera and it's available to be watched worlwide, as Kareem said it's like EArthTv.
People are thinking that this is hacking, Aljadeed must not show this crap on the TV and should not call it Penetrating Flights or Hacking the airports camera. Seriosuly this is annoying.

@m0ei: so this application allows the control over the camera too? or is is just viewing, they mentioned that you could control the camera...
Ok...1.If you would want to do that you would need to hack their controll center which is watched 24 hours by its staff .2 You would need more than 1 App because of the passwords ,staying invisible for them and so on MAYBE with an iphone 4 which has the ability of multitasking but i never saw it actually working (still using 3g) then you would need to have knowledge about their system . 3 Who said that the SECURITY cams are connected to the internet ? At least in most of the airports they are controlled by their own terminal which is most likely independant.
4. As far as I know this is highly illegal In most countries ,no idea how its here. So most likely it was one of those "keep the people stupid reports"

This isn't so far fetched. Many security cameras can be viewed publicly online.
For example, here are few showing the field of an airport.
155.31.20.201
87.54.59.228
It could easily be ported as an application on the iPhone, or any other phone.
Other airport cameras are more secure, such as this, which requires a username and pass. 195.243.185.195
@MSD, here is one with a control panel if you want to have some fun.
216.14.254.20:90
So basically, this is in no way related to hacking. It's just some old google trick.
All you have to do is google search the following: inurl:view/index.shtml airport
Of course you can replace airport with any place you would like to check. For example, if you want a security camera on the beach, you search: inurl:view/index.shtml beach

Thats what was talking about some are not even connected to anything but the security center.
As you said some are I give you that but it is in the nature of a security cam to be secure and not being controlled by everyone its simply not made for that.
Given the fact that they can be reached by the net you can "hack" them if that is the condition in theory you can enter every system! I was talking about closed networks which are not connected to anything but themselves.
Thats like following example I`m sitting in Tonga and my laptop is not connected to any sort of internet or any device which is connected to internet you can`t enter it if you sit in America on the internet.
And besides lets say we want to infiltrate their security system ...and lets say the terminal with the cams is connected to the main system which is connected to the net ok....the we would at least need the IP of that and most likely a password if they are not completely brain amputaded which they are not. About the Ip that is something not sooo easy to get but possible then for the password that depends how secure it is and what kind of encryption they use I think a usual keygen won`t do the job if they use speical charakters ...Pasword example
secu rity*& 9782363 =backupsytem./adimin! try to use a standard keygen it wont work so you would need to have a good sophisticated one which are rare and for some types of encryption not usefull so you need to make your own also possible but damn you think they would do that just to show off ?
I think its the following you can see through them if the state/airport securty lets you do it. If they do not want it its most likely forbidden and protected, and the easiest way is to simply not connect the terminal to the internet.

I am new here and it just happened that i passed by this topic and i totally agree with the guys who said it is ordinary security cams which can easily be accessed and controlled and there is thousands of them on the internet and which are not necessarily for airports and some of them need some type of authentication to access while the rest are left open to everybody and all of you search for them using google.
wt u have jus to do is to type these commands by the way i might post a new topic abot how to have fun with google::
" inurl:/view.shtml" or "inurl:view/index.shtml" or "intitle:”Live View / – AXIS” | inurl:view/view.shtml^" or
"inurl:ViewerFrame?Mode=Refresh"" or "intitle:liveapplet inurl:LvAppl"
there are more commands google them up !!
note : some of them needs some type of plug-ins that you have to download

I have this app, its called Live Cam, and yes, it allows me to control some of the cameras for few seconds before someone else take his shot.
That doesn't mean it makes me a hacker or whatever the hell they were blabbering about - taking control, changing flight directions causing some major-ass disordered terror attacks. For god ’s sake, this stupid TV needs to shut up. They earned an award for being abundantly the new FOX of Lebanon.
Why they’re censoring the voice of the guy showing them this stupid app!!:P
Yes, we all know how serious and efficient the government when it comes to security and privacy...Georges wroteHighly improbable...

*hint... car number database and ogero database...
i think that the guy watched on NewTv was playing with a panoramic photo of a security cam, not controlling it actually.
I nearly fell off the sofa when i watched this report on new TV!
they either have been mis-informed OR they are trying to target the not so tech savy leb people to effect them.. remember this is not the first time they attack the Airport.
Not so long ago they physically breached the airport from the sea and jumped over the security fence just to prove a point!
they know they have shit and are just doing this for political reasons..
and what is more pathetic is that "خبير اتصالات" they have... pathetic!!!!

I an MIS student in the University knew it wasnt a hack. really this should make us cry this country is deteriorating and the media, all of it, is playing its role.
