  • London stock exchange moves to Linux.

All is said in the article. This is not a "Linux is better than Windows" troll. This is a "Make money with Linux, it's possible" topic.
May i add that Linux is actually better than windows. Linux is a blessing really.
Me, a single user found it better to operate Linux than windows, how then for a large organization !
I wish for more companies, corporations, institutions, schools, universities and governmental posts to discover and dare to change to Linux.
I just want an alternative to Visual Studio and I'm willing to do a full transition to Linux. I wish that would happen.

Give Monodevelop a try. It's not better nor worse than Visual Studio, simply different. It takes some time to get used to. But will let you run .NET on Linux without any problem.

For the record, Mono and Monodevelop are both developed by Novell, the same company that installed Linux in the London Stock Exchange.
Good move by the LSE. The trend recently in Europe and South America has been for governments and some financial institutions to move to open systems. Simply having access to the source code and the ability to change it gives them a measure of control and reduces worries about the software they're running. You just can't have those assurances with a closed system.

It also means there's more transparency: the public has access to the source code of software used by the government. Combine that with open document formats and you have truly transparent electronic government.

Now, where do I get some RHT stock?

At the NY Stock Exchange, of course. They too moved to Linux by the way, over 3 years ago :-)

Check this (MonoDevelop Features) out. That's quiet interesting actually. Definitely worth trying out. Will give it a shot once I'm done with my current project.

Thanks for the recommendation rahmu! :)
