Hello World,
Since no one showed any interest in my last project
AGROS, I thought of suggesting a new project. My idea is to build together a Web Browser
(
PS It is not entirely true. One member has shown interest in AGROS and then disappeared. I wish he would come back. Anyway, if any of you want to participate in AGROS, the offer still stands, send me a PM).
About the browser, here is the idea:
I want to create a minimalistic web browser that can be operated entirely from the keyboard and would not need the mouse at all. I already have something in mind, but we can discuss the specifics later.
The only real requirement is familiarity with C++. No need to be an expert (who can really claim to be a C++ expert anyway? - except arithma of course, this guy produces mad code), the point is we cannot lose time
teaching you C++. If you don't know advanced techniques that's not really a problem.
Familiarity with the following is a big plus, but not a requirement:
Qt, git, github.com, Win 32 API, WebKit API, g++, GNU Make.
As you can guess from the requirement, my idea is to build upon the WebKit layout engine and create a truly multiplatform browser. The code will be released under an open source license (of course), so that anyone can join in this project. Probably the GPL. If anyone prefers anything else (like MIT, Apache, CC or BSD) we can discuss that too. But it's mainly details. The most important thing is to start coding. And soon.
I'm hoping a lot of you will participate. I'm planning on starting soon anyway, so don't be long :-)
